[Re-introduction] All that we see or seem is just a dream within a dream.

Confusion. A blast of pain. Then - just - you know, a sudden twist of the brain; like it used to be when he was still fighting his inner demons.

I was supposed to --.

Adrian isn't sure what he was supposed to - do? think? say? He's rather - empty. This is just the word. He rises from the ground, looks ( Read more... )

Tsuzuki has been out for a walk in the snow, his coat-collar turned up against the winter wind, when he hears footsteps behind him. Turning, he looks over his shoulder to see who it could be...

And pauses, staring for a moment. Then one of his radiant smiles crosses his face as he recognizes the handsome figure running toward him.

"Adrian?" he asks, half in disbelief.

Love that quote from Poe in the subject line!

Adrian stops abruptly. Snow-braking makes his calves hurt, but he doesn't really notice. On the contrary, he focuses on the face staring at him from behind the collar - a face he thinks he knows.

"I believe so. But if you excuse me, I need to reach -" he points, "- inside."

Quite a good one, indeed!

It's a fairly pretty face as well, though that might be harder to see in the lowering twilight. "I was just heading inside myself," he says. Then he pauses, and with a worried note, he adds, "You don't remember this place, do you?"

"Should I?" His voice has a sharp edge, and he throws words over his shoulder without really stopping his march. Then he finally reaches the porch and stops to breathe. "I have mixed feelings about it, pal - but I need to get inside now."

Somewhere inside, burning the midnight oil, will be a scholar. Steerpike has grown since Adrian first greeted him, over a year ago, both in knowledge, skill and ambition. He's had to think, too, about the brother (?) who turned up. About accusations. About who he is and what he does.

Steerpike is a work in progress.

He might be easily disturbed from his novel - a book called Master of Desire, whose distinctive cover is only missing Fabio to be absolutely cheesy.

Figured this one would work, amnesia or not, since it's been a while. He'll remember meeting Adrian, but won't mind having been forgotten. Let me know if you have any special requests? I know Schery is volunteering... My only issue is with Anita, whose state is currently undecided, since I left her to Brian's clutches...

And welcome back!

The library, of course. A place where he used to spend much of his time; a place he barely holds hints of memories of. Argh. This - what? - be damned!

"Am I interrupting something?"

Scheryyy would be delightful, methinks ♥. And helpful, too. With Ad's current state, you know. Any others you wish to throw at him are fine.

skljdlfkjd! The book is closed and Steerpike stifles an oath - he lost his page, and this was a ~crucial~ moment. Hm. Yes. ANYWAY. It's all Effy's fault, he insists - as much of everything is, in his world. Damn wench.

"Of course not," he replies, as easily as possible considering the circumstances.

He can't believe he's put himself in the same situation in which he caught Titus, a couple months ago. Dratted stones!

She's been sent along, as well as a few others. <3

"Awesome." Adrian can't help the dryness in his comment. "I thought so. So this is the library."

If he ventures into the library, he may come upon a girl in a white muslin Empire gown, curled up with a leatherbound copy of Mary Wollestonecraft-Shelley's "Frankenstein" with flaking silver lettering on the spine. She's rather wrapped up in the book, and she may not notice him at first...

Any others of mine you want to meet or reacquaint themselves with Adrian? I thought I'd nudge Miss Gothic Novel Fangirl at him and see what happens...

Alright, this whole story with the half-memories and the blurred past is quite annoying, so there: have some alcohol, Adrian. Something you're quite familiar with, after all -- riiight?

There he walks in, a glass of whiskey in his hand. His eyebrow arches at the sight of the young woman.

"Why, hello there. Isn't that an uncomfortable position to read?"

Of one thing I'm sure: meeting Muraki at this point would be shattering, so better keep him away if possible :).

She's rather wrapped up in her book, and she might start just a bit as she looks up. "Oh, I got myself rather wrapped up in the story and I don't think that I noticed," she says, her voice tinted with a polite British accent, as if she wandered in out of a Jane Austen novel.

Adrian might not be impressed by the accent; affected Brits aren't exactly on his list of favorites, but then again. "I see. So you enjoy reading, miss --."

If Adrian should happen to come into the common room at the right moment, he will find Hisoka Kurosaki slouched far down in a big overstuffed chair, which he has dragged near the fire. He's been outside, and his gloves are still on. There is melting snow on his boots, which are planted widely on the carpet. His arms are folded, and his eyes are closed, his auburn eyelashes fluttering slightly.

He isn't asleep, though. One who understands the difference between dream and the other states of consciousness might guess that Hisoka is more or less aware of his surroundings, although he's fallen momentarily into a state of vivid, compelling memory.

Ohai. Perhaps they'll find a friend in each other. You never know.

"Care for some company, pal?"

Hesintantly, but brash as always. That's an Adrian-esque trademark.

Hisoka opens his eyes. He smiles. He likes brash people.

"Sure!" he says. He indicates a chair near his.

Adrian sits, rubs his hands against his trousers (they're just slightly ruffled after landing on the lawn), and looks the guy in the eyes.

"I don't think we're been introduced. My name is Adrian."

Here's one that's missed friends and will be happy to hear a voice he'd thought he'd lost. Not Nellas, but Adrian is a close second?

Icarus won't see Adrian coming, but is probably in the hallways somewhere, untangling a forgotten bit of garland from his wings.

"Oh for... Of course." He's muttering under his breath.

Adrian is still half-lost, searching for something familiar - more familiar - something to make him finally decide if he knows this place or he doesn't. He'll nearly bump into the unaware Icarus - "Oh. I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention."

Meta!Iggy is sad that Adrian doesn't instantly recognize him like he does Adrian.

Icarus blinks at the voice, the garland still stuck in the feathers of one wing. "Adrian?" Of course he knows his friend. Hell, he let the vampire feed off of him. Not like he's easy to forget. "Where've you been man?"

Blink blink. Adrian almost steps back, but something in the youngster's voice makes him hold his ground. "-- been?" Er. "I'm not sure I was supposed to disappear from somewhere, though people keep telling me that."
