Felix's life has had a lot of ups and downs. (Mostly downs.) He doesn't trust peace, or happiness, but he's trying to, really trying, and bit by bit he might even be learning ( Read more... )

Here's someone who is... very pretty. Also very straight and very married, and very temperamental.

We're not sure what went down between Feanor and the Dark Lord when he and Hisoka when to the cliffs. At any rate, he's in the library now, and for a split moment, he sees the red hair. And the brooding, and double-takes.

"-- Nelyafinwe?" The moment the name is said, though, he knows this is an Atan.

Unforgiveable mistake.

I could not resist. Not sure where this will go, but...

Someone who is very pretty, very gay, not married, and very temperamental? Or something. And at any rate, Felix looks up sharply at the hail, head turning to reveal his almost sharp features, and differently-colored eyes. Definitely not Mae.

His eyebrows creep up, and his expression becomes faintly caustic, mocking, as easily as breathing. "No, I'm afraid not."

"So I see," Feanor replies - he does not look impressed at all, and even sneers. Those eyes are strange and unsettling - as are the markings on Felix's arms, if he can see them at all.

Oh, this one reminds him of Robert, and Felix stiffens, straightening slightly, drawing himself up and donning more of a haughty mask, the one that deceived everyone at the Mirador that he was more than just an upjumped whore.

The markings are probably visible, as Felix is probably in his shirtsleeves, rolled up to his elbows.

And his response to people like Robert? Flirt with them. His expression adjusts to a mixture of haughty and coy, eyelids slightly lowered as he stretches, sinuously. "No, I'm afraid not," he says again, but this time it's a 'oh well' more than anything. "But I would like to make the pleasure of your acquaintance, sir..."

He might hear something shuffling about among the books on the lower shelves, and if he follows the noise, he may spy what looks like a small donkey carefully pulling a book out with its mouth. Only the shape of the donkey is all wrong: much softer and the coat is shorter and smoother.

Felix does hear something shuffling around, and it makes him twitchy and nervous. Felix is not an animal person, at the best of times, and his last experience with them was being eaten by wolves. That was not fun.

So he picks up a heavy book and pads toward the sounds, and then stops dead when he sees what it is. And blinks.

Is he...going mad again? This is quite a bit cuter than his previous visions, though.

The creature pulls out a picture book on donkeys and carries it closer to the hearth, to a blanket bundled up on the floor, where the firelight can fall on the pages. Then it pauses and looks up. "Don't mind me, I was just looking for a book to read," he says. "Hope I didn't make too much noise: hard to get books down when you don't have hands."

....oh Kethe, and he winces even if the curse is only in his own head. He is going insane. Felix's laugh is a little high pitched and faintly hysterical. "Oh, no, don't mind me, I'm certain I wouldn't want to interfere with your reading."

And things seemed to be going so well!

L doesn't brood. L, however, does like to read, and since Light has been (predictably) uncooperative, he's now not very far from Felix, in the periodical section, browsing the papers.

Looking for clues that concern the aftermath of his death in Japan.

He might not be particularly quiet, but he's very methodical.

Felix can hear you rustling over there, L, and it is exasperating him. Short-tempered and moody as he is, he might normally be more tolerant, but at the moment -

"Is there a reason you can't do that more quietly?"

L pauses in the midst of holding a leaf of paper up with delicate fingers.

"-- I'm sorry, are you talking to me?"

"Yes," says Felix, a little snippily. "Do you see anyone else I might be talking to? Because I'm quite certain I do not."

Here comes a boyfriend - and of course he has to zero in on Felix like a homing pigeon, and come to sit on the armrest, if he can. He'll kiss his forehead.

"Long day?" Pascal knows it's more than that - after over a year, and all they've been through, he knows.

But an inane question sometimes can save the day.

As discussed, you make a boyfriend melt, Pascal. So very much. And he adores it about you. He shifts to make room for boyfriend, and leans into the forehead kiss, the lines there smoothing a little. "Mmm, you could say that," he says, "Although you've just taken hours off of it, darling."

Pascal might take advantage of that and snuggle a boyfriend - because boyfriend snuggles are pretty much his favorite thing.

"So much of it, love?" he nuzzles a little, takes a moment to enjoy the scent of Felix's hair. "I suppose I should patent my presence, then."

Boyfriend is happy to be snuggled. Really very happy and all. And he leans into the snuggles a little bit, though he would never admit it if asked, for some strange reason.

"So much," he says, and laughs a little, though it's a bit anemic. "Perhaps you should. I'm sure you could make quite the mint. Although I don't mind saying I want you all to myself."

Phedre might have wandered in to fetch another book, perhaps something she wants to recommend to Fuchsia, or just some reading for herself.

We're not sure how much of Mildmay she's seen lately - but at any rate, she likes both brothers (loves one of them, heh), and so she wanders over to sit in front of Felix.

She just looks at him, gives him a little smile.

He can break the silence when he sees fit.

Felix looks up at her, over the top of his book, and closes it slowly. He's still not certain of her - Felix's trust is very difficult to gain completely, and they did have a rough start - but he is trying. And he knows that she matters to Mildmay, and that...is important.

And also means that she can give him news, if something happens that he needs to know. But he won't ask, not now, not in this mood.

"Madame," he says, politely enough, for him, though he still seems slightly distracted.

"Messire," Phedre replies, and inclines her head, very polite, though her smile and manner are easy.

"It has been quite some time."

I asked Meg about how much of Milly she's seen, so I now know how to play this one. JSYK. <3 Also, missssss you.

"So it has," he says, mildly, and shifts his book from hand to hand before setting it aside entirely. "I hope you've been well?" He seems slightly - awkward, actually, which is unusual for his so well practiced manners, drilled into him brutally.

But when he's uncertain, he does slip a little. And Phedre throws him off balance in a way he can't entirely explain.
