A bouncy introduction

It's sometime on New Year's Eve and a small blond boy comes dashing through the doorway to the main room of the Mansion. He has a pink toy rabbit in his arms and he looks very excited - so excited that he doesn't at first notice that he's in a different room to the one that he expected

Enide is curled up in a corner of the main room, sewing something. She likes children! A lot.

"Hello, child," she says, when she sees him.

"Why, but you are only a child," she says, "Why should you have to entertain me?"

"Because that's what we do at the Host Club!"

[fairdamsel]

"I've never heard of such a thing. Would you tell me of it?"

[hanihunny]

"Well, there's a group of boys and they're all different types so there's one - or maybe more - for every girl to like! Then we have tea and cake!"

[fairdamsel]

Awww. Enide thinks he's adorable.

"Are you not a little young yet to think of courting maids?" she says, smiling.

[hanihunny]

"We just entertain them and make them happy," he explains. "But I'm eighteen so I'm old enough!"

He still looks and sounds much, much younger. His bouncy enthusiasm - and toy rabbit - certainly don't make an older teen impression.

Enide's brow creases. "All of eighteen? Do you speak truth? That would make you a man, more than anything else."

WTF. She's rather embarrassed, now, quite honestly.

[hanihunny]

"Do you want me to be younger..?" He looks up at her.

[fairdamsel]

"I would not want you to be anything but what you are," she says politely, "it is only that I reckoned you much younger."

[hanihunny]

"Aww.... You sound like Tama-san! He wanted me to be what I am too," he beams.

[fairdamsel]

Enide smiles at him. "He sounds very kind."

[hanihunny]

"He is!" Then he looks a little sad. "I wish he was here."

[fairdamsel]

"But you will find many other kind men and women here," she says, "I know it is not the same as having those you love, but it helps, until such time as you can see them again."

[hanihunny]

He nods. "Is that what it's like for you...? You've found other friends here?"

[fairdamsel]

"Indeed!" she says, with an encouraging smile, "and so shall you, surely, with such a fair temperament as you have."
