"Just because this place hasn't been attacked, doesn't mean that it won't, you idiot," he snaps. "An attitude like that will lead to the destruction of this place, when some larger force comes to attack this place and absorb its domain into its lands." His hand is on his sword hilt already. "If that's the case, and if people here are that self-complacent, then they deserve to be taken over by some hostile force, if that is what it takes for them to value their independence and their freedom."
