[introduction]: allons-y!

Aug 22, 2010 14:12

There is a distinctive noise coming from the front lawn, and a blue box is fading into view. The door opens and one man steps out, looking around with avid interest. He's tall, thin, and dressed in a pinstripe suit, long brown coat, and Converse sneakers. And appears to be entirely unconcerned by all of this ( Read more... )

Jarvis is drawn outside by the unusual sound, it's not a sound that he has ever encountered before and that's saying something. Once out there, there doesn't seem to be any obvious source for the noise, just a blue police box that certainly wasn't there before and an unfamiliar man walking towards the mansion, apparently talking to himself. Fortunately, having worked for so long with Tony Stark he is able to make that leap of logic, one or the other must have something to do with the unidentified sound. "Hello," he says, pitching his voice to carry. "You must be new."

Hope this is okay! :)

The Doctor looks up from muttering about humans and their tendency to wander and positively beams. "Lovely," he says, "Hello - yes, new, something like that, now. One simple question, where are we?"

And then he seems to doubletake. "Well now, that's interesting." The glasses come out. "That's very interesting."

"If it were a simple question, someone would have answered it by now," Jarvis says, "but no one has ever found that information that I am aware of." He simply watches The Doctor quietly with a small but only mostly natural looking smile, seeming unfazed by the doubletake and glasses.

"Well, there's a first for everything," the Doctor says easily, and perhaps a little cockily, but only half. He's distracted. "You're whirring," he comments. "That's what's interesting. What's your century of origin, who's your maker?"

His eyes narrow, slightly. "And is that really a human skin or just a very good imitation?"

If the Doctor takes to looking around, perhaps he finds the ballroom where the's a short red-haired girl in a leotard practicing at a ballet bar. She's working earnestly at it, without music, but notices him if he comes in.

She drops her foot quickly to the ground, but her legs tangle a little as she turns, and she falls to her knees, then blushes.

"Oh, I'm sorry!"

Of course he does. The Doctor always takes to looking around, the more the better. Especially in new places he's never been to before, and there aren't a whole lot of those...

As for little red-headed girls, we can't say the Doctor doesn't seem delighted to see her, watching her practice with a bit of a grin. When she falls, he'll be there in an instant, helping her up.

"Sorry? What for, nothing to be sorry for. Did I surprise you? Sorry about that, I surprise me too, sometimes. I'm the Doctor, and you are?"

Duck presses her hands to her mouth. She can almost feel a 'quack' coming on. It's been so hard to hide her true nature as a duck here. Her eyes are huge though, as she stares at the skinny man.

"I'm not normally so clumsy--well, yes I am, but not when I'm practicing. Bu-ut you interrupted that, didn't you?" She takes a breath just long enough to giggle like a mad thing for a minute. "People always do that, interrupt me, I mean. Because I'm always practicing. I never get any better." And she hasn't even tried to get back to her feet. "I mean, I'm Duck. Sir. Doctor." She finally winds down, still blushing.

"Course you get better, you looked plenty better to me. I never learned ballet, though. Waltzing, I can do. If I do say so myself, I'm a pretty good waltzer. But not ballet, no, never got around to it."

He grins at her. "Just the Doctor, no sir. And don't salute. Not that you'd - never mind, old joke. Duck! Nice to meet you, Duck - is that a nickname for something? No? Just curious. Well. Go on, are you going to stay down there forever?"

She's not the only one talking a mile and minute and too much.

Should the Doctor go poking around in the kitchen, he may find a rumpled-looking young man with violet eyes, perched on a draining board, a teapot beside him as he waits for a kettle on the stove to boil. His face is thoughtful, even a little sad, but if the Doctor approaches, he looks up and his face brightens. "Hey there, you new here? I was just having a cup of green tea, would you like some?"

He'll wander in eventually, probably looking for a banana, and back to frowning a little. Donna is nowhere to be found, and even more troubling, there's no real sign of trouble. And he's been looking, too.

He glances up at Tsuzuki in some surprise. "Tea? No, green tea, that's no good. English breakfast's more my type - have you seen a red-haired woman, about this tall, occasionally somewhat bossy? --don't tell her I said that, if you have, mind you."

"Oh, I'm pretty sure we've got some of that, if you'll give me a moment to find it," he says, going to a cupboard and rummaging in it for a minute before taking down a tin box and a clean teapot. "So, you must be new here. Had a long trip?" he asks, as he sets about putting a couple of teabags into the fresh pot.

"Oh, yes," the Doctor says, "Long trip, very long. The longest. Thing is, I'm not sure where I've landed, and my watch is broken. ...that is important, by the way, that it's broken, it's never broken, and it's been through a lot..."

He goes over and leans on the counter. "But - anyway. Donna's her name, Donna Noble? Relatively important that I find where she's got to."

If the Doctor finds the library...

Armand is reshelving books in the library and standing on tip toe on a chair to shove a particularly heavy tome into place on the top shelf of the case. Just as anyone would look in or enter, Armand loses his balance and tumbles to the ground with a loud bang and a shout. He lays on his back a moment muttering curses in French and a little Farsi.

The Doctor does have a way of finding things.

And a crash is always a good way to get his attention. He takes a few steps into the library and peers around the shelf, looking at Armand with a bit of raised eyebrows.

"Well," he says, "That doesn't look especially comfortable."

Armand blinks at the stranger a moment, then pushes himself upright. He runs a hand through his still habitually untidy hair, which his now hanging loose to his shoulders. "Oh. I do stupid things like that all the time." And as indicated by his curses, he is indeed French. He scrambles around handily and gets back to his feet with only a bit of a groan and a hand to his back.

"It's not comfortable, I agree. Are you new? I'm Armand St. Just." He bows, then winces as he straightens.

"That's just fine, me too. Sometimes. By which I mean a lot of the time. Usually it's not bookshelves, though. Well-"

When Armand introduces himself, the Doctor blinks. And looks around them. And frowns.

"Armand St. Just? Really? Well now, that's just - well. Armand St. Just. Pleasure to meet you, I'm the Doctor."

Something is very odd here.

Perhaps, if she's not to be found in the house, he might try the forest. Asato is there, checking his traps and picking wild berries and mushrooms when he can find them and putting them in his satchel. He's friendly, even if a stranger might scare him a little bit.

He's getting progressively more worried about her - who knows what she's getting herself into, and there is always something to get oneself into - and does indeed wander out to check in the forest. And may quite literally run into Asato while pointing his sonic screwdriver at the watch and muttering under his breath about Armand St. Just and strangely juxtaposed technology and oh hello.

Not quite the same as the last cat-people he met. "--well," he says, perhaps rather oddly. "At least you're not wearing a wimple, that's a relief."

A stranger bumping into him is a good way to get him to bare his teeth, but when no threat is forthcoming, he'll relax a bit.

"A ... wimple?" Asato clearly has no idea what you're talking about. "Who are you?"

"Teeth. Hi. I love teeth, they're just - oh, thanks." The Doctor looks relieved, and tugs on his coat a little. "Yes, a wimple. Last time I met - well, cat-people, they didn't give another name, they were wearing wimples. Wimples make everything worse, don't you think?"

Pause. For breath. "I'm the Doctor."
