Padding quietly on his four feet, Altra comes up behind her. He won't wind between her legs or brush against her until she's noticed him. He sits on his haunches and purrs loudly. Can you hear me, girl?

She turns at the sound of the purring, and stares at him when he speaks. Slowly she kneels, leaning forward for a closer look at him, eyes wide. "I hear you," she says, dark eyes wide.

Altra almost grins, as much as a cat can grin. Good! I'm Altra. There's no need to be alarmed here. You're quite safe. He stood again, and stepped forward to try to brush against a hand or knee.

She reaches a hand out towards him, coming from where and when she's from she's probably never really even been around a cat. But there's still plenty of reason to be alarmed, to her. No Simon. No Serenity. "Where are we?"

If River ventures out near the woods later, she might bump into Will, who is walking back towards the Mansion. He's just finished practising archery (gotta keep those skills sharp), so he has his bow and quiver with him. Ebony is with him, too, running around Will's feet and barking at nothing in particular.

River is wandering quietly and aimlessly through the trees and she heads toward Will when she becomes aware of him. She leans out from behind a tree, silently staring at the boy and the dog.

Ebony notices her, starts yipping, and takes a few tentative steps in River's direction. Will still hasn't noticed her. He figures Ebony is being her usual noisy self, and isn't paying the sudden yipping any mind.

River kneels slowly to be closer to eye level with the dog, staring wide-eyed. She looks almost bewildered, as if trying to understand the dog, and slowly extends a hand towards it.

Bridget is happily playing a game of chess against his teddy bear on the porch. He's wearing a light blue sundress and is very welcome to someone that's crazy and psychic.

"Check!" The bear carefully considers his next move and nudges his rook.

"Negative."

River pauses in her exploration of the Mansion to watch them, particularly the bear. She quietly goes up to the table and leans down to study the bear at close range, not really looking up at Bridget yet, though she's quite aware of him.

Bridget glances up at the girl and smiles warmly. Roger, on the other hand, simply ignores her while waiting for Bridget to move.

"His name's Roger," he offers, moving his knight.

"Roger," River murmurs, carefully reaching to poke the bear. She's never seen something quite like that before.

Sometime later, should she venture into the library, she might spy a tall, pale man in whites standing at a table, going through a pile of think, dusty, old-fashioned books, the kind with paper pages and leather bindings. He turns and glances up. "Can I help you, Miss?" he asks, politely.

But she might hear another voice speaking behind his polite, mellow, even warm voice, this one scratchier and higher-pitched: "We're sensing strong energy in this one... is she for us?"

The library probably draws her like a magnet, the rows of books far more facinating than the Cortex, and when she takes notice of him the pale man is even more interesting than that. There's something about him. And disturbing. It's too different for her to be able to put a finger on it just yet. "Not yours," she says.

He eyes her quizzically, half-feigning confusion. "Excuse me, what did you say...?" But the exchange she can "overhear" quickly puts paid to this expression.

"Be quiet, I think she can hear you," a voice like his physical voice says, as if speaking to the voice she heard.

"So what if she does? We can't help ourselves: she looks delightful and is that the delightful scent of madness we detect?" the scratchier voice replies, with an air of insane glee.

"I said, not yours," she repeats, still staring at him. "You shouldn't listen," she says after a few moments. "It's wrong. Bad."

Should River make it to the kitchen at any time, she might come across a lean, pale lady who's quite busy preparing lunch (or dinner) for her beloved. She knows how much time he's been dedicating to building their home these days, so she puts as much love, care and tenderness in the food (otherwise a simple dish) as she can; she might also be humming to herself.

River wanders quiet and barefoot into the kitchen, studying the room and the woman from the door before entering, hands light on the door frame. She eyes Isolde's cooking as she approaches the counter, then vigorously begins rummaging through the cabinets. She turns every object in her hands, examining every label (every side, every flap, the little corners where no one looks) before leaving them in disarray on unoccupied portions of the counter.

Ohai Meg, do you think we should go on with this interaction or perhaps bring these two together on another occasion, should you wish to wrap up the introduction thread? Either works fine for me ^^.

I don't mind continuing this one if you want, do you have a preference either way?
