[not_a_computer]

Simeon's been in the library, and now he's sitting around the main room with a few books on circutry and computers, flipping through another about an early 21st century programming language. It's much simplier than the languages he's used to using, he doubts that one could create a genuine AI with it at all. Still, it's giving him a better idea

My mother has a MA in AI -- I guess -- or was it my cousin? So I'll be merciless mwhahahaha.

Aaand if it's late enough for Adrian to have finished his frugal 'breakfast', which could be called 'dinner' by non-vampires -- albeit a frugal one, as aforementioned, he basically doesn't need too much food -- then he'll show up in the common room, a couple of old comic books under his arm.

He notices the unfamiliar young man and approaches him right away. "Hi there. It's nice to see a new face."

Adrian is silent for a while, then nods. "That I can relate to. Sometimes I would like to know how the people I left behind are doing -- what are they up to." If they're still alive.

"Yeah. It would be nice to be able to contact them even just once, to make sure that they're all right." Sim has those worries too He feels like he's abandoned them, especially Joat.

[iwalkindreams]

"I --." He stops. He could try to contact them through dreams, but something prevented him from trying. Perhaps the fear of failure. "Never mind. Who knows, we might be successful at some stage - if you come up with some clever technology," he teases.

He chuckles a little and shakes his head. "I may be from the future compared to most people here, but that doesn't mean anyone's ever learned how to contact alternate universes. That's still just a theory. Unless you take this place as proof.

"Indeed." Adrian looks wistful. "This is perhaps the oddest place I've ever been to, except from my 'forged' dreams, but those at least I can control."

"What's a forged dream?" From the way he talks about controling them he wonders if it might be something like his simulations.

[iwalkindreams]

"Well, it's a way of mocking myself. I'm not forging dreams -- I'm creating them. It's just an... odd feature I have, if I can put it like this."

[not_a_computer]

"I've never heard of creating dreams before. Simulations yeah, but not anything like dreams. How is that even possible?"

[iwalkindreams]

"I think that trying to explain it to you would be like you trying to teach me how to use a complicated machine from the future. Honestly, science and occultism don't really get along, do they now?"

[not_a_computer]

"Yeah, you're probably right. I don't really know anything about occultism, not much room for anything but hard science when you're on a space station."

[iwalkindreams]

"I can imagine," Adrian nods. "But that's the simplest explanation I can give. To tell you that I'm a supernatural creature with magic powers sounds a bit corny."

[not_a_computer]

"Maybe...and anywhere else I probably wouldn't believe it." Here, though, supernatural creatures being around make a strange sort of sense.

[iwalkindreams]

Adrian smiles, fully understanding. "There are many things happening around I still need time to adjust to," he agrees. "But now I'll have to excuse myself. It's past my -- ah -- dinner time."

With a slightly mysterious grimace, he might stand up and get ready to leave, if Simeon doesn't stop him.

Simeon raises his eyebrows a little, but he won't stop him. "Yeah, everything around here take a lot of time to get used to. I'll see you around then."

"Sure, man. It was good talking to you."

And perhaps FTB is okay now?
