Well, this seriously sucks.

They were just closing up when it happened - the basement was a mess, as it usually is after a gig, beer all over the floor, and everything is sticky. Johnny was moping up some vomit when the walls started to shake, and he just had enough time to crawl under a table.

Nina wasn't so lucky, though - she was finishing up with washing up the glasses, and the shelves fell all over her before she had time to respond.

Broken glass, everywhere, and blood.

It didn't take Johnny much time to crawl in her direction.

"C''mon, girl, stay with me," he says, and he's afraid to touch her, because she's so... she looks so hurt, and her eyes are closing. "C'mon...."

With Lou's permission, Nina gets to die onscreen and not come back, as she is dropped - feel free to come and help out.

The moment Johnny and Marlene are out, the bar seems to implode.

Around them, everything has already collapsed. Ashes, smoke and snow.

Marlene gasps, stunned.

"We're lucky," she breathes.

[johnny_rockfort]

Johnny doesn't give a fuck about being lucky. He's carrying a friend with a crushed skull in his arms, and he's covered in her blood, not to mention the plaster and the saw dust.

And it's fucking freezing.

"Holy fuck."

She shivers, nodding.

"It's cold," she complains. "Too cold."

[johnny_rockfort]

"Yeah," and Johnny doesn't only mean to talk about the temperature.

"... where the fuck..." he looks around, and the barn is still standing.

".... that way."

[thatcherly]

"Yes, let's."

She nods and follows him, heading to the barn.

As Johnny walks towards the barn, fighting against the wind, he turns, trying to shield Nina's body from the cold.

"Guide me," he tells Marlene, :"can't let her freeze to death."

Yup, he'll be denying for a bit.

Well, for a little bit longer.

She wants to say something, about how Nina's probably already gone, but doesn't, knowing better.

Instead, she leads the way to the barn, and once they're inside, she sighs.

"There's some hay to set her down on," she points out.

[johnny_rockfort]

He sets her down - though he'd hate to admit it, he does need the directions, actually.

"Yeah."

And now that he's deposited Nina...

Johnny shivers.

"Fuck it's cold."

[thatcherly]

"Yes, it is," she says, and she's shivering as well, hugging her sides.

"I wonder how this all happened, God..." She shakes her head in disbelief.

[johnny_rockfort]

"Shitty structure and tectonic plaques, that's how," Johnny groans.

If he weren't lost in shock, if he were a scholar, he'd probably want to make a remark about that tells him about the nature of this place.

"Fuck, where's Ryuk when you need him?"

And then, of course, when you think about Death, you think about the Maiden, and....

"OH FUCK."

Without warning, he heads out into the cold again, back into the Mansion.

"--Hey!" Marlene protests. "Don't leave me!" She's a little pissed about being left behind with an increasingly creepy dead body.

[johnny_rockfort]

"Quake's over," Johnny calls over his shoulder. "You'll be fine."

And off he goes, to go looking for Natalie.

Natalie's managed to get out of the Mansion relatively unscathed, but she's freezing cold outside in the snow, wearing only pajamas and slippers.

"That you?" she shouts as she sees what she hopes is Johnny.

Yeah, Johnny's not espescially warm either - say what you will, a NIN t-shirt is only hot in the sense of style.

"No, it's the motherfucking pope," he calls back. "Come on - found a warm place to shelter."
