Kyoto, 1336: The time of Ashikaga Pretenders of the Empire of the Rising Sun, also a good time for some autumn foliage-viewing. The three of them, he, Rose and Jack, could use a vacation, and despite the unsettled climate, the Emperor wasn't above throwing a party to mask the intrigues. "It gets stuck sometimes," she remarks softly, concerning the door. She doesn't think there could be someone new on the other side at all.

"Hello," Wendla says. "I don't think we've met--are you new to the Mansion?" She assumes so, because there's something about him--about all newcomers, really.

"Hullo, I'm the Doctor."

He'll watch the Doctor out of the corner of his eye, trying to be unobtrusive about it. He seems to match Jack's description of the version of the Doctor who dressed like a U-boat captain, but he'd thought it was supposed to be the other one who was around. Plus, walking up to someone and saying 'hi, you haven't met me yet but I know you' seems an awkward way to introduce oneself and he hasn't come up with anything else yet.

Thus Canton might hear a familiar sound nearby, only it sounds a bit deeper and more robust, and if he looks up, he'll find that U-boat captain-looking fellow pointing it at a lamp.
Has to be a reason for this, some generator that's pulling people here. The next question besides 'how' is 'why'?

Canton quietly closes the notebook, tucks it into the inner pocket of his jacket, and stands to face the U-boat captain with the big ears. "Doctor?"

Coffee first.
Then, toast.
And maybe eggs.
But coffee, really, is a priority.

But isn't he loony anyway?
"You know I need caffeine, Doctor," Paul replies, his head still in the cupboard. "But here's some Earl Grey if you want some."
He puts the box on the counter without stopping, he's a bit sleepy and rather focused.
Must. Have. Coffee.

Delilah was out scouting snare spots - first snow was insufficient, but soon, a new hunting season will begin, and she knows game is good at the Mansion. She'll step in, half-bundled as the weather is clement, still, and might be a bit absorbed by the exercise of removing shawls and other things, and putting them into the entrance's wardrobe, to notice anyone observing...
[OOC: I know she's a potential drop, but I kind of hate to drop her, and, er, I want to test how I enjoy her, since it's been so long, before I make up my mind...]

Of course, that will probably disappear eventually, and she will once more be a frail thing in need of protection.
She startles, then, and turns to look at the English man.
"Good for hunting," she replies.
She eyes him suspiciously. The English are responsible for much Shuswap suffering.

The soft song of the slim, solitary stream would be all that troubles the quiet of this eerie scenery, were it not for its mistress.
Galadriel sits on a rock, her white robes settled, and she sings to the stream's slow rhythms in a language known only to those of the First Age of the world.
Moments untold.

Four billion languages, and here's one that the Doctor hasn't heard yet, but it's a particularly beautiful one, like something from the dawn of time itself, with the kind of wisdom that makes him think of High Gallifreyan...

"You come with a curious heart, stranger," she says softly when she's done.
