[Crackplot] Let there be light

Jul 07, 2013 02:58

It has been a time since the Mansion experienced any type of trouble. By the Dark Lord's account, the Crafty Vala's, far too long. From the void where He is confined, He observes, awaits an opportunity. His armies may be amassing, or not, He is not ready for an onslaught just yet ( Read more... )

Yeah, okay, what the fuck.

Anita can feel something, but can't put her finger on it - she's been quite a bit on a nocturnal schedule, so she's actually rested, but it makes absolutely no sense that there would be so much light.

And, quite simply, something just isn't right.

She's roaming the corridors, looking for TJ, possibly already has Lukas with her at his typist's discretion and will be actively seeking her default for Jaenelle: in her absence, she's also wanting to talk to Saetan.

Because, seriously, What. And she figures if anyone has the beginning of an answer, that would be him.

This constant, steady sunlight is especially painful to Saetan; he can handle the weaker light of early evening and early morning, but not full daylight. Thus, the old Warlord Prince will be hugging the shadows, limping along one of the hallways, keeping his eyes averted from the light.

This is not good. He can sense that there is craft at work, but it's something very powerful, something beyond him and yet something which smacks of corruption...

Oh god. Saetan himself is in trouble because of this.

Anita just stares a moment, then will say something like, "You probably shouln't be walking out here."

A frown - she'll ask Lukas to help, if he's there.

"Let's go to the bar."

That thing doesn't have windows, so it's probably safer and more comfortable for the old geezer.

"No, to my folly," he grits, dry-throated. He might need blood or at the least some fresh yarbarah to compensate the damage that he's suffering. No burns, but there will be a paleness under his tan skin and his golden eyes are haggard. "I was sheltering in the library, but I had gone in search of sustenance. And that was when I found the sun had launched this merciless assault.

"Something or someone is causing this. But it is not the work of the house: I can sense that much," he says. "Lead me where you will: the light is sapping my strength."

"So spare it, and walk with me," Anita says.

She'll waste no time leading him through the hallways, and will find the bar, so far, not too crowded. There's, as appropriate, no light, and a couple people, including the staff.

"Better?"

He'll sink into the first chair he can find, breathing easier, his eyelids slack with relief. "Better than I was, though I could use some fresh blood or a flask of yarbarah," he says.

Anita has a thing about giving her own blood - but she's got someone she knows will love this.

"Can be arranged," she says, quietly.

She closes her eyes, then. She's calling her wolf to call.

Mind if I ask Lucy to bring in Jason?

He almost raises a hand to wave it off and tell her that a bottle of blood wine will be sufficient, but he stops himself, letting her do him a good turn. He'll need this if he's ever to get to the bottom of this strange midnight sun...

Go right ahead!

The call sent, Anita waits, heart beating a bit too fast.

She has to take care of Saetan, who is one of the most powerful people here, and Jaenelle's father - plenty of reasons to be here.

That doesn't mean she's not worried about her people.

Done!

So, for handwaving purposes: Jason will show up and will be quite happy to donate blood, though I'm not familiar with Saetan's canon and don't actually know how such things work for him. So. A brief explanation would be nice?

Wrong account is wrong, but wanted to make this quick... cute_shinigami November 25 2013, 15:45:09 UTC
Basically Saetsn's blood-drinking is not much different from the archetypal vampire nip (since the Demon Dead in the Black Jewels-verse are something between Our Vampires Are Differernt and Our Zombies Are Different. It's complicated...), though he's gentleman enough to make a small cut in someone's wrist and drink from that rather than nom on someone's neck. It's also more practical than romantical, though it does appear to release endorphins into the drinkee's system, making it a not entirely unpleasant experience. Also His Dark Grandfatherliness is careful not to take too much, no matter how battered he is (and right now, he's pretty beat-up from the Evol Light).
