For those who didn't read the comics, here is a summary of Loki's history in animation, maybe useful for writers who want to include canon details, as the animation is mostly faithful to the Marvel comics

It would almost be an ommision of criminal proportion to not utilise the popularity of these actors, right?

Yes it would be!

I've only ever run across an Avengers cartoon one time. You would think it would be playing non-stop given their popularity.

He's like giving the kid who tried to burn down a house, the keys to his own house and matches!

Now I have this new head canon, where Odin somehow always forgets Loki's past transgressions and always forgives him, and Loki kind of counts on it.

So post Avengers he'll also turn up and look with puppy eyes at Odin, and Odin will just give him house arrest with maaaybe two days of no TV and Internet :D (shortened to one, when Loki starts crying about how unfair and cruel Odin is, and how Odin always treats Thor better than him :D)

You could make this into a crack fic where Odin has dementia and Loki takes advantage. Thor wouldn't know what to do.

Somehow I like the idea that Loki is spoiled rotten, because he can turn on the cute look like a cat :D

Every time I read a fic that has Odin punish Loki in some disgusting and blood thirsty way, I just comfort myself by thinking about the reality of Odin's punishments. "Go spend time with your troll children," or "Spend some time with your daughter!", or "Rule the throne for a bit while I try to kill my other son's girlfriend". Let's face it, no matter what Loki does, Odin loves his horrible little boy.

I have a fic written, but not yet edited, where Odin just simply won't punish Loki. Odin takes the blame for being a crap dad and it's cuddles all round. Terrible fic.

And in Marvel, every time after Loki fails to succeed in world domination again, he just gets grounded and "banished" from Midgard ... until the next time :D

I must read this. Must. (Does Loki cry a lot in this fic if only to manipulate Odin? And then no matter, what punishment Odin intended for Loki, he just can't go through with it because!)

No, Loki expects to get a major punishment, something like the Midgard mythology. "He's gonna put a snake on my head!" but Odin cries a bit, because he's drunk and sad. "MY BABY! MY LITTLE BOY! BLOO BLOO BLOO" and brainwashes Loki into thinking that Loki was brain washed by Thanos into doing bad things. Manipulative mega bastard Odin doesn't give a flying fuck about mortals, he just wants his little boy back.

There's a cartoon somewhere on Tumblr, called Stupid Thor or something? Where Thor takes Loki back for Asgard justice, and Odin waps Loki on the head with a newspaper and shouts, "No Loki!". Thor looking satisfied in the background, thinking 'Justice'. That's just about canon.
