That last bit of what you said really hits home. Even if I'm not a party-goer, it's so very true. You just have these people whose names and faces you struggle for, but every once in a while, someone you haven't seen in years just pops into your head and you think, 'I wonder what they're doing now. I hope it's something wonderful because they deserve it.' You've got all these forgettable people, but then others that are like stars, where you can track the path your own life has taken through your interactions with them, and you know 'having met this person made me grow and change' - and those are really the most wonderful sort of people, aren't they? :)

Yes! Very much! I miss them in a selfish way-but I am glad whenever I talk to them, and they do well, even though they are thousands of miles away from where I am.
