NEW TOS AND MIGRATION

wow, here i am, ready to return to my fandom home, and the first thing LJ throws into my face is the new TOS. awesome.

i feel i just came back to watch a whole lot of you guys leaving, off to DW.

how bad do you think it is? what's hearsay, what's pretty much confirmed?

There's a lot of confusion about whether the TOS applies to paid accounts, as those are still being handled in the U.S. I would just assume that the TOS applies to you. Your content is supposed to be legal according to Russian laws. That means that most LGBTQ content is against Russian law, so it could disappear if the Russian side of things starts digging into content.

There's more to, this, but I'm sure others on your Flist have gone into it deeper. I am suggesting that people migrate to Dreamwidth, which has an excellent import tool that will grab everything, right down to comments. And, if you decide to delete your journal content or entire footprint on LJ, do not delete your account. You still have control over your work in communities and comments that have been imported to Dreamwidth (DW), but only if you can still log into your LiveJournal.

i'll probably end up doing the same, but it was such a chore to re-animate this account already! (i forgot all my passwords and had to reset, then realised i forgot the password to the email account etc etc etc ;(((

how are snape and lupin? and is there still snupin santa?

Snape and Lupin still get some attention, but postings of original material have dropped to once or twice a month, as opposed to the glory days of once or twice a day.

Snupin Santa ended after the 2014 edition. By that time, it was more a fest than an exchange. The Snupin Santa site has everything.

I wish it were the good old days, but I definitely had to stop asking people to keep producing material. It became too awkward.

I'm on DW, LJ and IJ and keeping up with all three now. I don't plan on leaving LJ unless I'm removed. :)
