(Seriously, though, DeCoteau is the weirdest bad director ever. I love bad horror and all, but his internalized homophobia layered over the homoerotic imagery makes everything ten times weirder. I can't decide if I want to hit him or feed him cookies.)

I think you described it perfectly, at least what I got from the clips - it's that weird mix. Which you get in a lot of movies with gay subtext, it's just usually not this flagrant. Even... flaming. Hah.

Me too! And that's why I'm not watching the sequel until someone tells me it's safe. I'm so scared for them because they're just so perfect.

Neat! Jared/Griff were my favourite part of the film. I do love my Geek/Jock pairings. I blame exposure to CREEPSHOW 2's "The Raft" during my imprinting stage *g*
