and I keep hitting re-peat-peat-peat

So I may have mentioned something about a little trip I took this past week to New York City by way of Ohio? And I may have done more than my share of drunk posting? Who can say. But I'm back in Knoxville now, and I'm done feeling sorry for myself about it and ready to tell you all about the trip.

New York in pictures, now with added cut tag action. )

I'm glad you had such an awesome time! It looks like it was a blast.

You know, I meant to e-mail you and tell you that I wasn't going to stop by on my way home after all, because it was a couple hours out of the way and I will be seeing you in July, but then I never got around to it. Sorry! But I will see you in July. That's something to look forward to.

That is okay - I didn't realize what day it was meant to be until today, and I spent pretty much all of last night going through all my books, so I was getting stuff done that needed to be done, anyway. Not that I wouldn't have loved to see you anyway, but you know what I mean. I hate packing so much I'd hate to not have had that spurt of productivity. And, yeah, since we'll see each other in July, I certainly understand you not driving 2-3 (!) hours out of your way. The weekend we've got planned is one of the things I'm most looking forward to for my road trip this summer. :)

It was fabulous, wasn't it. I spent a good bit of today in a post vacation funk. I'm telling you, Reiko and I are gonna make off for the city!

I showed your text earlier to Zachary. His verdict was, "Ew."

I'm so TIRED. And I have these weird bruises behind my knees. But I'd still rather be in NYC.

My foot was oddly swollen yesterday so I think that I must have stubbed it when I fell. I was just happy I fell on the way home! Can't imagine all that walking after that. I found myself watching Newsies stuff on Youtube, but then I got all sad that I wasn't there.

I can't bring myself to delete my Google Doc with our NYC itinerary, even though it's over, because I'm just that lame.

I hope you're not too sore from the fall.

Ooh, I think I might want to visit Havana Central. And I didn't know Paulie Perrette had a bakery in NYC! Shows how much I know. I need to add that to my list of places to check out.

I'm sorry about the rickshaw debacle. It was a nice ride for sure (if a bit harrowing at some points) but ouch. Never doing that again.

Oh! Oh! Exciting news! Newsies is extended indefinitely! Well, at least until January. :D Also, Alex Wong? Stupid hot.

Yay! I'm so happy for them. Though unsurprised, because it's been a big hit.

:plots to get back and see it again:

(It's not going to happen, but I can dream.)

You have nothing to be sorry about! It was a learning experience for all of us. Plus we didn't have much choice at that point.

Havana Central is delicious, if a bit overpriced. Paulie Perrette's bakery isn't that well-rated on Yelp, but they have a red velvet cheesecake brownie that's supposed to be sublime. It was a little tricky to find because the storefront sort of blends into the surroundings, but it's probably worth checking out when you're next in the area. It's right on 49th between 8th and 9th, IIRC. I still have the address: 301 W 49th St.

I think a comment left on the New York Times article about it said it best: "don't underestimate the power of 8,000 fangirls a week." Or something like that.

Yeah, that's true. Rush hour is such a pain. >.<

You said red velvet. I'm there. And it's also not that far from Shell's job. Hmm...

They're not wrong. And casting four SYTYCD alums certainly hasn't hurt them; there was plenty of screaming for those boys above and beyond any movie-based fangirling. Not that I blame them.

There are no words for how much I both love and hate this post, for letting me vicariously bask in the glory and rubbing it in that I've never been to NY, respectively. I'm jealous of Newsies, I'm SUPER jealous of drag day. I have secret aspirations of becoming a faux queen, and the thought of having brunch with a baby queen is destroying me. He has good bone structure, too; bitch is probably gorgeous all made up.

That cake topper still makes me melt. Follow your plan, get free, then write 90 Glee fics. Or just write whatever you'd like; happy is kind of important.

Eh, people stopped commenting on my Glee fic ages ago, so now it just makes me feel bad about myself. I'm pretty much done. I need to finish my fucking novel and get paid to write. There's no good reason not to.

If you guys end up in D.C. it's easy to get to NYC on the train. Either way, you'll get there someday. It's well worth the trip. I am biased, as a Yankee, but still.

I may be halfway through a podfic recording. Hopefully that doesn't make you feel bad.

I think DC's off the table right now (I'm pushing hard for Chicago, actually), but yeah, I'll definitely find a way to NYC someday. I was far too much of a theater kid to never go.

Edit for spelling because I have had too many Coronas this evening.

I don't mind if people record my stuff, no. I just feel like I'm wasting my time if I'm writing fic no one wants to talk about anymore, you know? I'd rather focus on something that might at least make me some money than post retreads of the same fics no one cares about.

Chicago's nice. I've only been once, and it's fucking cold there, but there's lots to do.

It sounds like a good time was had by all! (And you all looked so lovely and happy! ::smishes::) I drank a lot this weekend so I could live vicariously in the moment! The headache was totally worth it!

Hopefully the "escape" won't be terribly long in coming.

The escape isn't going to happen unless I make it happen, so it's all up to me.
