My downstairs neighbours were playing loud thumpety-thump music this afternoon, with all their windows open. So I opened my windows too (it's been a lovely sunny day today, so they needed to be wide open), got out "Reflections from Broadway" by John Barrowman, and turned the stereo up loud. Very loud. JB belting out "Boy from Nowhere" and " ( Read more... )

Well done you! Even though that probably means there's yet another store in Central London you can't ever revisit . . .

Which tracks are they and from which versions? Just curious. Don't have any intention of trying to order them (and definitely aren't going to try to order them from A****n which took six weeks to tell me one of the CDs I had ordered wasn't available. Then continued to advertise it on their site with no mention that it wasn't available.

Correction:
2 songs from Aspects (Seeing is Believing and Love Changes Everything)
1 song from Evita (High Flying Adored)
1 song from Joseph (Any Dream will do)

1 of the other CD box sets ('Simply Musicals') had "Close every door" from Joseph, but I got mixed up and didn't buy that one. But then J's webmaster was surprised that he ever recorded that track, since it wasn't in his extensive collection, and when I went to HMV's site and listened to their snippet of that track, it was NOT JB singing the excerpt so that one is under investigation. *g*

Apparently the few tracks JB recorded for compilations like this have been used again and again, as have other tracks recorded by others.

Oh dear. Sad. Now an authority on musicals compilation CDs.

Oops. CD box set was 'The Magical Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber'. Single CD was 'The Greatest Ever Musicals - West End'. The single CD duplicated 'Any Dream will Do' but did have Love Changes Everything, and they were both dirt cheap. The 3CD 'Magical' set was on sale at £5.99

Go you! Hope they realised why J Barrowman was suddenly deafening them.

I can't absolutely ascribe cause and effect. Let's just say that I had a very peaceful afternoon after that!
