Postmodernism and feminist critiques aren't the only place where this idea shows up. Buddhism is practically built on a foundational argument to stop reaching and just be. Recently, a certain vein of academic psychologists have gone as far as to study this under the guise of "positive psychology" - meaning the study of how to get people to happiness as opposed to merely fixing problems one by one. The consensus I've seen, whether coming from philosophy or psychology or even the 6 o'clock news is that if there's any hope for authentic joy, it can only come from the present moment ( ... )
