How We Get Into Things

I'm interested in how people get into music, film, TV, theatre, books, etc. Often (especially if it's obscure) there is a story behind it, or a memory, or a string of other things.

I NEVER watched Law and Order for its first 13 years. When I moved to New York, all of a sudden it was interesting to me because I could see where the action took place. (Also, I had a roommate who had cable; I never really took and interest in paying for tv...I know I'm showing my age with that comment!) When I moved to my own place, I just HAD to get cable; the only stations I cared about was USA and TNT, both playing lots and lots of Law and Order episodes, including Law and Order, SVU, and Criminal Intent.

Over a year later, I am now mostly seeing episodes I've already seen; but my addiction continues. When the tv goes on, its to watch Law and Order - nothing else. Sometimes I hold my breath when I check channels 3 and 40. If Law and Order isn't on, I usually turn the tv off. Sometimes I scroll through the channels, like a lost puppy, whining for my show- having no interest in anything else.

in 1996 the local alternative radio station was playing "caught a lite sneeze" often, as her boys for pele album had just come out. i was in the car with my mom the first time i heard it & i got obsessed, so i cassette taped it off of the radio and listened to it for weeks like that. finally i bought the album & realized that what i thought she was singing & what she was actually singing were 2 completely different things but that didnt matter.

oh gosh, i dont know even know! if you listen to the song you will hear that only a hardened tori fan would be able to know what is being said.
