nails: a Christmas manicure

Dec 06, 2014 19:31

Not terribly exciting or ambitious for a festive season manicure, but it'll do.

Base (gold): Models Own shade not specified (came with the Nail Art Kit) x1 coat
Top (green): Picture Polish Kryptonite x2 coats
Top (red): Models Own Scarlet Sparkle x2 coats
Dots: Models Own Nail Art Pen

In lamp light.

This is the first time I've used the gold polish from the Nail Art Kit my friend gave me 2-3 Christmases ago. (Together with the black pen, they were designed for making leopard print nails...) It goes on fairly well, would probably be opaque with 2 coats although 1 coat is fine for layering purposes here. It's a very bright, lemony gold, which looks pretty awful on my skin tone if I were to wear it alone, haha.

You can see I don't venture too far from a tried-and-tested template for these diagonal French tips. I actually stuffed up (as I often do) by not skipping a nail and painting straight through all 5 fingers on my left hand with green tips when I intended to leave one for red. By the time I realised, I was all FUCK IT and just went over the ring finger with red over the gold part.

And as usual, the black dots came in to save the day by hiding my crooked paint lines.

Moral of the story: Merry Christmas!
