The Stuff Life is Made Of (1 of 5)

Do not squander time for that is the stuff life is made of.

-Benjamin Franklin

“Now, supper. Can the TARDIS fly here?” Rose asked the still-pouting Doctor.

“Of course she can! I told you-I came here on purpose this time.”

“Hmmm,” Rose said noncommittally. “My parents have moved, you know. Dad hated the house, and Mum wanted something ( Read more... )

I turned my music off so I could concentrate wholeheartedly on reading this. I was so excited to see it. :)

Donna is just smashing. Good for her for sticking it to the Doctor. His pockets... XD

And...

Jackie looked rapturous. “Oh!” she exclaimed. “Oh, Donna, we are going to be the best of friends, I can tell!”

...is just great stuff. Or, alternately, the Doctor's worst nightmare.

And it looks like Rose and the Doctor have quite a bit of talking to do, eh?

'M looking forward to it. :D

It took months to post, we know--but hopefully you find all four chapters to be well worth it! We really had a fun time playing with Donna, Ten, Rose, and Jackie (and various conversations between the lot).

But yes--Rose and Ten have quite a lot of talking to do.

Good for Donna for trying to knock some sense into him but the way he's going about things makes me think Rose isn't the surest way to get Rose to go with him.I mean he's a desperate man in meaning he would literally do anything to ensure she goes with him.Does that include kidnapping her if it came down to it?

The Doctor sure knows how to dig himself into a deeper hole.

The Doctor is brilliant in many ways--but understanding human emotions is not one of those ways. He does try, bless his hearts...but he still has a ways to go.

The cut on this appears to be broken.

When I've read it I'll return and compliment you up and down and in various other nonlinear directions but for now you've made me scroll on my flist! how dare you!

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

LJ was really kicking our rears today.

*sigh*

Sorry.

Thank you for fixing the cut; I too have had days when the honorable mister eljay kicks my ass in the formatting department.

Now i've read it and at first i must admit this headache I have was encouraging me to not compliment you. But it got much much better. For one, it was funny! There was just the right amount of adjectives, and you didn't natter on about all the physical descriptions of the children. I am 100% in favor of the doctor licking things, and the part with Jackie was especially good.
I wish you'd keep the perspective more consistent. The way you write the Doctor himself is probably one of my favorites, you don't try to make him too alien, or too aloof, or too anything really except himself. Ought to do more like that.
I am curious what is for dinner. Do they have new fruits in this universe? I can only hope.

*passes paracetamol* We're so sorry you had a headache!

Thank you for reviewing, in spite of your aching head! Chapter 2 is now up (complete with proper LJ formatting...hopefully).

“It’s a bit…domestic, innit?”

FAIL, Doctor. >_< Great chapter, though. I find myself quite thankful for your Donna. And isn't it funny how it's universally assumed that her and Jackie would be fast friends? Mostly because it's hilariously true, of course. ;)

Donna and Jackie getting together over tea, to discuss the foibles of the Doctor...it's rife with potential, really. It's a shame we'll most likely never get to see it happen.

*sigh*

Thanks for slogging through, in spite of the formatting issues!

The breaks have been fixed--for some reason, LJ decided to eat them for breakfast this morning. It should be much easier to read now that we've gone back in and corrected the formatting.

Thanks for the suggestion, though--next post, we'll be sure to tweak things before we actually hit 'post'.
