How Fair Art Thou, My Bonnie Lass 1/2

Rose Tyler, companion to the last Time Lord in the universe, glared across the console at the man-alien-in front of her. The aforementioned alien looked back at her, eyes wide. The green glow of the console did little to help his attempt to look innocent.

“I didn’t mean it?” He tried. Rose continued to glare.

“You.” She jabbed a finger in ( Read more... )

Can't wait to read more of it! Loved the reference to Robert Burns by the way (I'm distantly related to him haha)

Oh, yay! No, really, we're all of us happy that you like it. The pics this month were all fabulous, and it was a ton of fun to write to them. When will the May challenge go up?

They'll go up on May 1st... unless I get bored and post it earlier. ;)

Oh, goody! :) I don't know that we've ever said this--but thank you for the monthly prompts.

“A good surprise? Or a surprise like, ‘Surprise! You just ate something poisonous!’”

SNORT. Loved this. Very evocative of the different senses and well and truly in character.

A do-over on our reply to you, Kalleah, because the bonehead who typed this (er, that's me, the one typing) forgot to add a very, very important plot point. And that is--we, all of us, have such respect for your writing and your stories; to know that ours has made it onto your radar is...well, it's made it a bit difficult to think of an appropriate adjective. Cool? Neat? Awesome? Yeah, they all harken back to high-school, but the general "Wow." factor remains. Sorry, don't mean to fawn. I blame the recently consumed milk and ice cream.

Now back to your regularly scheduled reply:
That exchange was a favorite of all of ours, because we could all just envision several scenarios where the Doctor (any of them!) would have gone "Oops, may not want to swallow that" as Rose slowly stops chewing, looking at him in utter disbelief. Ah, bless the Doctor!

Very nice. I like the careful scene-setting. The Doctor is very Doctorish, and I like your Rose. A very accomplished bit of writing.

Thank you. All of the members of the cooperative have been reading your story (ahem, any update soon?) and to have you like what we've written is just...flattering. Quite flattering, actually.

My story? But -- it was a short little thing! 700 words! Are you sure you're not thinking of somebody else?

To answer the question, yes, I hope so. I'm hoping for Saturday. I'm not used to having ready inspiration, so working writing time in with the rest of my life (and stopping the writing when it's time to go to bed or come back from lunch) is proving challenging.

Your story. A short thing it may be, but it's memorable and well-written.

“A good surprise? Or a surprise like, ‘Surprise! You just ate something poisonous!’”

“I’ve never let you eat something poisonous.” She glanced at him again. “I’ve never let you swallow anything poisonous,” he corrected himself.

XD

Ten's characterisation and dialogue was the best I've ever read. The tangents, random trivia (Robert Burns!), everything.

<3! Can't wait for the next part :D

Ten is always fun to write, even when he runs off in a completely different direction than originally intended and it takes days to get him back to where he was meant to be. Isn't that just like him, though?

We're glad you're enjoying the story so far; hopefully you'll like part 2 just as much!

Thank you! "Delightful" is an adjective that we don't think is used nearly enough. We're glad we gave you delight!
