Three times Ace and Benny almost made out.

1. Immediately after they met. It was very nearly that or punch each other's lights out; only that look on the Doctor's face kept them from doing either.

2. At Benny's wedding, just after they persuaded the Jasons to do it first and just before Ace fell asleep with her head in her cake plate.

3. They ran into each other once in a bar in London in the early 80s, about ten years after everything finally shook out, and were just at the point of getting maudlin drunk when all the shooting started.
