Andy & Paul's journal would be something like this:

Andy: Food?
Paul: Food!
Andy: Can I sniff your butt?
Paul: I have a butt?
Andy: Food!
Paul: Hey, are you food?
Andy: What's food?
Paul: I have to poop.
Andy: Who are you?
Paul: Who are you? I'll need to sniff you.
Andy: Food!

See, they have very bad short-term memories. Guinea pigs are like two year olds with severe ADD.
