The bed beneath felt awkward. It was familiar but familiar in a way Bakura didn't recognize. Too tired (or lazy) to open his eyes, he ran his fingers over it. Stiff, uncomfortable ( Read more... )

Groaning softly, Shizuka curled in on herself, wondering why her bed felt so hard and cold. Fingers curling, her eyes slowly opened and instead of being met by her decidedly red wall, it was met by stone ( ... )

The groan had been the first thing that caught his attention. He'd kept quiet, waiting for more, as he stared longingly at the mug in his hands ( ... )

The relative silence was unnerving, as Shizuka didn't hear the Thief King approaching, as silent as a cat. When he spoke, she gave a violent start, retreating against the wall and staring, one hand clasped to her chest.

...why was he dressed so strangely? And what was he doing here?

"...Bakura-san?" she asked timidly, relieved to see a familiar face and, at the same time, more terrified. She'd seen enough horror movies to imagine scenarios where she and some friends might have been kidnapped and thrown somewhere to try to claw their way out while battling untold horrors to the amusement of their captor.

Stop being so irrational.

"Thank god you're here," she said finally, flinging herself at him and wrapping her arms around him. "I'm so scared. Where are we?"

He tried not to smirk at her pathetic attempt to hide. "Sama," he corrected with a small smile; he was home now, so the proper titles might as well be in place.

Bakura didn't protest as she wrapped her arms around him, even ran his fingers through her hair in a comforting manner. The answer to her question wasn't as easy as it should have been.

He should have just said 'home' and been done with it. But she was here, so it wasn't home. Home meant alone, comfortable, restless.

He was at least still restless. "... This is Khemet," he murmured, giving a passing glance to his living quarters. "We're actually... underground. Uhm, this is my home."

It was better that it was Shizuka here with him instead of someone else, right?
