Shizuka had a wonderful view of the fat flakes showering down outside, piling up at an alarming rate, and unfortuately was the last one left downstairs. The receptionist had screamed something about his cat and rushed out the door, and there were, understandably, no guests ( ... )

It was just as Mahaado had pulled on his coat that he noticed the lamp's light flickering. Twice it flashed, and then nothing. Eyebrows furrowed, he studied it for a moment before he opened the door of his office, preparing to leave still.

But he couldn't take his eyes off the light. Was there something wrong with the power in the building? That could definitely be a problem. Just in case, Mahaado returned to his desk to look for the small flashlight that he kept.

I wonder who else is in the building...

[Thank you! ^_^]

The silence was rather creepy, coupled with the randmoly flickering lights, and Shizuka really, really wished she hadn't just played Resident Evil 4 the night before. Shivering, she drew her knees up to her chest, wondering when Mahaado would finally finish up and let her out of here.

She heard some stirring upstairs, which she presumed was the Magician, and attempted to ignore the tightening in her chest. A quick goodnight and it would be over and she would be free for another day.

The lights flickered again, but this time, they went out entirely. Panic settling over her - after nearly going blind, Shizuka had never been at ease in the dark - she shrieked surprisingly loudly before clamping a hand over her mouth.

When the lights shut off, Mahaado had just turned the flashlight on. Cursing lightly under his breath, he turned quickly as he heard a loud shriek from down the hall. Involuntarily, the sound made his breath quicken. Could that have been...? Shizuka?

Without thinking, Mahaado immediately rushed out to see if the girl was all right.

The light illuminated the way before him, his footsteps almost as loud as his heart pounding in his head. He spotted her, safe and sound, and slowed his pace. "Are you all right?"
