The Present meets the Past

[Note: This is pushed foreward to a reasonable time after Set's arrival]Kaiba was feeling decidedly unsettled as the driver eased the car to a stop in front of the Game Shop. With tabloid reporters and even members of the local news media licking their collective chops for details about this twin/clone/long lost brother of his, he'd spent the ( Read more... )

Set, who had been resting by the door, knew who it would be but found himself hesitant to go answer it. Mokuba had said that Seto can be a little harsh at times, but that he really wasn't so but, however Set had a feeling that this meeting was going to be unpleasant.

Rising and quickly striding to the door, the priest pulled it open quickly and nearly jumped at the sight of what was all but a mirror image, save for Set's darker skin. He did his best not to stare and found himself studying Seto's eyes, jawline, and everything else that was identical to his own as he gave a polite nod of his head and moved from the door. "Please, come in." His voice was low and calm to match his guarded expression that lacked emotion.

Kaiba liked to think he wasn't one to gape at things, that he was more the quiet, scrutinizing type, but he couldn't help it. His eyes widened, mouth parting slightly as he stared, disbelieving. Even if he had been expecting to see a convincing resemblance, save for the different coloring and the clothes, this was... It was...

He felt like he'd been robbed.

Numbly, he stepped inside, averting his gaze under the pretense of glancing around the room, though nothing else he saw really registered. He suddenly wished he'd brought Mokuba along; the boy had a way of stating the obvious, and Kaiba didn't think he could bring himself to give voice to it.

Other than, of course, to murmur under his breath, "This is absurd."

Set began to lead the way to the living room, glancing behind him as he spoke as a way of indirectly inviting Seto to fllow. "...They had said the resemblance is striking, but I had no idea we looked this much alike." He said in an even, neutral tone.

"Where did you come from?" Kaiba asked abruptly. He really didn't care if it was rude or sounded like an interrogation. He wasn't trying to be demanding of answers, but he'd never much concerned himself with being polite.

He considered the couch for a moment, as if he might sit, but settled for folding his arms over his chest and idling beside the thing, too unnerved presently to attempt getting comfortable.

"Or perhaps I should ask instead;" he continued, "How did you get here?" He wasn't going to bother with the Whys and What-fors right now, since their previous conversation had established that the man was pretty much in the dark about it.
