I've really liked how Tyki has a strong concept of family. If you walk and talk and quack like a duck from his world, well, then you must be family. And thus, being his gain that much more importance in his view of the world. At least it used to. Watching that fall apart or even start to must put him in a terrible position. And it is about not being able to choose, isn't it? He can't cherry pick the Earl, Wisely, Road and Devit and the rest and take them with him. That the sides can't live in harmony or be coaxed or forced into coexistence. Now he can't choose whatever he wants. He has to discard something. And Cardio probably isn't used to, cares for, or is very good at that.
And then there is Road. Not being able to understand her motives probably makes it aggravating if not unbearable seeing the relationship he has with his own (dreamsofnoah). And she is the most adorable, sweetest and stable of all Roads. ... Then again, I may be

It really is like that. It boils down to a few things--he doesn't get a say in this. It's not something he's gotten to choose, and that pisses him off because he really is horrible at discarding things he doesn't want to. Also there's a bit of the pride there, if he doesn't try to help Devit he will never feel right about it. Ever. Because Devit's his and he doesn't let people fuck with what's his, even other people he loves. And yet if he helps Devit it's not going to go well for him and he knows it.
And of course all the issues with his perception of family changing.
dreamsofnoah is truly the most perfect Road you aren't biased at all! Or I am too.
And it is a huge slap in the face to him, especially so since Road seems to have no reason at all. And since he's not going to get that beach vacation he's going to be a lot more violent and generally intolerant of things for a while. Not bitter, but more cruel and less friendly. Definitely more closed off with most people though I imagine it won't show up much around Road and Solo

I just had a thought. Lady and him sitting down and having a looooong conversation that basically mirrors one of the things that she learned from him, which was basically, "It's easier if you don't think of the others as versions of yourself."
Because it's easier to think of everyone as an individual, rather than versions of one person.
Though, I imagine this conversation would go horribly.
So. I'm all for just letting Sleight beat the hell out of him. Somehow. Maybe they don't need a reason to do it, save for drinking one too many and feeling downright violent. Because Sleight could go for killing someone about now.
I felt so bad about how Devit was reacting to Tyki in that and to everything in general, but it's like--Tyki hit the nail on the head in that post that it's a self-worth issue. Devit does honestly like this Tyki, in his little brother tsuntsun sort of way, but he does not expect Tyki to like him, and he doesn't/didn't expect anyone else to care what happens to him. Like, some Allens approached him, and that didn't surprise him, but it also doesn't count; to Devit, caring about everyone is the exact same thing as caring about no one. But it's just . . . his whole experience in camp speaking for him. The Earl threatened him, and he decided to leave; Tyki then informed him he'd give him up to the Earl to be killed and then got really pissed/stopped talking to him when he found out Jasdero was going too; Road crucified Hakuren after finding out Devit wanted to marry him, in an attempt to show Devit how stupid his choice was. So Devit has sort of . . . lost any belief in the idea that for ANY Noah, the

Fft don't feel bad it's not like. Tyki isn't an ass too. ALSO HE'S NOT THAT SENSITIVE though it really did shock him some of the stuff Devit said, and it hurt, but he got over it. The funny thing is Tyki sort of likes all Devits but this is the one he actually likes most and considers his little brother sorta and is actually actual family to him instead of some funny loudmouthed kid. So. He knows Devit had issues in camp but he wasn't really there for it so he doesn't understand quite why Devit can't just pretend everything is okay here dammit.
