When Mello’s pride was hit, he was impossible. While he no longer cared about being number one, that didn’t stop him from feeling angry and extremely pissed whenever something like this happened; they were ambushed and they had to retreat like dogs with tails between their legs.

“Pathetic!” the blond hissed as they finally arrived to their apartment, now kicking the wall. “I keep telling them. Use someone as bait, but no. Let’s all go there at once and get fucking KILLED” No one died, but Mello didn’t allow things like this happen.

Seeing that the other was taking too long to open the door, he kicked the door to hurry Near up “Hurry up.” the blond frowned “You didn’t help much either. Do you know what a pain in the ass is to solve you EVERY SINGLE TIME?” finally there was a small “click” sound which told Mello the door was open.
He elbowed Near’s arm and got inside the apartment.

Just like he had ignored Mello's constant nagging, he ignored the way his partner kicked the door and elbowed his arm. Instead of replying to his taunting words right then, Near calmly entered after Mello and closed the door behind them, locking it right after. He removed his tennis shoes-- finally! How he hated having to use shoes of any kind-- and walked over to the kitchen area to get something to eat. This mission had made him rather hungry.

"It's your own fault if you can't solve a Rubik's Cube faster. You say it's annoying to solve me every single time, but what can you do in battle, if I'm not with you?" He reached for a cookie. That should give him enough sugar for now. "Nothing at all."

“I could always get a better weapon, because you really suck at times. Your blast wave isn’t at its best yet either.” Mello pulled his gloves and walked to his room, leaving the door open as he still screamed at Near. “And besides, without me, you couldn’t do shit either. You’d be just a fucking toy in the middle of a battlefield.”

Finally he took off his shirt, moving to the bathroom. He definitively needed a bath after this. “And your fucking toys are in the way again” Mello screamed, now from the bathroom, glancing around the apartment.

Near took a bite out of his cookie before replying. "Every other Weapon in the Community has a Meister, so it would be impossible for you to fight alongside someone else," he said, before taking another bite. "Besides, no one else would have the patience to deal with your temper." As for himself, Near was at least capable of using one attack on his own, which could make the difference between living and dying, if he ever found himself without Mello in a battle.

His lips curled slightly in amusement as Mello screamed his complaints about his toys. "Kick them away like you always do, Mello," he retorted, speaking a little more loudly so his Meister would hear. After finishing his cookie, Near left the kitchen area and walked to his room, to finally find his puzzles.
