1. How does this work?
Sign up for the exchange you want and a month before the event begins you'll receive someone else's prompt. Write their fic and post it, and they will do the same. Yay, the Cardcaptor Sakura fandom is two fanfics richer and you both have a warm feeling inside.
2. How do I sign up for an exchange?
Comment on the post of the exchange that you want to sign up for BEFORE the deadline.
3. How many exchanges can I participate in?
You can participate in as many as you like as long as your fics are written in time. I am a prolific writer and might have as many as five or six claims going at once. But remember, if you fall behind and don't post your fic in time and don't contact a mod, you will be penalized (see FAQ#6).
4. I didn't like my fic. What should I do?
That depends on the reason why. If the writer included one of your squicks or didn't write from the prompt, or if they didn't use spelling/grammar check, then contact a mod and let them handle it. If you just didn't like the story or the author's style, I'm sorry. For the next exchange, please specify that you would prefer another writer to exchange with. Please DO NOT complain in a comment to the fic, attack the writer on his/her personal journal, or do other trollish things.
5. What is the preferred length, and can I fib a little on that?
Preferred length is 500 words or more. If you have 450, I won't catch it, but please don't write a drabble and expect an epic. I don't expect chaptered fics from this. If you want to write 5 short drabbles on the topic, go for it! Basically, shoot for 500 words and if you get more than that, great. If not, you're probably okay.
6. What should I do if I can't finish by deadline?
If you must drop a claim, please try to leave a comment on the claiming post two weeks in advance. If you're just going to be a little late, contact a mod and we'll try to get things worked out.
Note: If you drop a gift exchange, even if it is two weeks in advance, you cannot participate in the next exchange coming up. You will be allowed to participate in the exchange after that, if you so choose.
7. Is there a master calendar of gift-fic events?

9. Can I use fic I've already written?
What are you, a re-gifter? Fic used in the gift exchange must not be posted anywhere else before the post in the comm, and reposting permission should come from the recepient of the gift. Recepients, if you want to repost your gift, please ask the author and leave their name on the fic.
