Despite these few flaws, I can recommend this book with no hesitation to anyone who enjoys any of the genres I mentioned above (and really, I'd ask pretty much anyone to at least give it a shot). It had my imagination working overtime, and even when I thought I had a clue of how things were going to turn out, Palma tossed in another plot twist and had me questioning everything I thought I knew.
And really, that's the one piece of advice I'll leave you with if you do read this: Assume nothing.
P.S. This actually turned out to be a trilogy, and the final book was just translated into English this year. So if you end up being hooked after reading this, check out The Map of the Sky and The Map of Chaos, which loosely deal with two of H.G. Wells' other famous novels, The War of the Worlds and The Invisible Man.

Like the fact that the supposed good guys are in fact hunting John to get rid of evidence. Like the fact that it's a little harder to draw that line between right and wrong when you're confronted with the difference between law and justice ( ... )

Sorry about that. It's my own fault for trying to sneak it in at work, without getting caught.
