Three Wishes

As I logged in today I saw the blogger-discussion starter question: If you had three wishes, for what would you wish? Something for yourself? For others? To whom would you give three wishes, assuming you had someone you wanted to destroy?

I need four wishes, not three:

Assuming you trust the granter that far (years of D&D tell me that the correct answer to an offer of three wishes is "no, thank you"), I'd suggest moving #2 to the first place. #1 sounds good to me on its face, but it's possible supernatural wisdom would point to a flaw in the phrasing or the concept.

("Well, since the only way to fully appreciate something's identity, motives, and moral character is to be that individual, you are now a wish-granting genie bound to a lamp with my memories, personality, and limitations. Have fun!")

Heh. You're right. The only way to "win" is not to play.

There's a story in there... or possibly just a comic: Magical being tries to give away "three wishes" at a D&D convention and ends up with no takers...

It's like the "If you were stranded on a desert island..." question. I suppose most consider my answer a cheat. What ONE item to have? A _working_ ELT or EPIRB, of course.
