Its the wierdest horribilest weather. I think EVERYONE is flooded and not just a little! It's been all over the middle of Europe and this last five days we have been absolutely destroyed in parts of France. Lourdes is almost buried under mud and the roads in the Pyrenees Atlantic area are all torn up, houses whipped away... six months' rain in four days and the meltwater added.

Your Calgary floods did get a mention on the French news too. they reported on Praque and Germany ...oh my oh my. I'm a little worried cos our totally abominable (tornado filled!) storms are moving to the Low Countries now... they don't WANT any more water.

This year is just weather madness everywhere it seems.
I hope your loved ones and friends are save.

Not sure if you can access globalnews.ca/calgary online, but they've been on the air all morning with their helicopter coverage, and the number of cars stopped along the side of Deerfoot Trail so that people can take pictures is just amazing. And in Sunnyside, people are on the walking paths right next to the rushing water, while the anchors talk about the dams being opened which will increase the rushing water and maybe sweep a few people into the Bow.

It's always amazing seeing what terrible devastation floods can cause; I hope all your friends and family stay safe.

There's footage of the flooding on the UK news websites. I hope that your family and friends are able to stay dry and safe. It's strange being on the other side of the world when something momentous happens at home...I remember a slightly dislocated feeling and before the Internet, or even t.v.s in dormrooms, you might find out something weeks late. I think I would rather have known about troubles right away.
