burnt rice is why i now own a wee red rice cooker. stick the rice and water in, plug it in, push the button, and go back to doing whatever i was doing before, and even if i come back to it well after it's clicked over from "cook" to "keep warm" the worst i have to worry about is that it's a bit fried on the bottom of the pan. saves on buying new pans, too. :D

2:1 ratio of water to rice, stick it on the stove with a lid and boil.

Next time, lose the lid. ;) Actually, you might want to invest in a tiny rice cooker. I have one, and omg, the time saved is enormous.

Life of Pi was a real slog for me. I kept at it and ultimately finished it, but though it was a good story, it's safe to say I didn't enjoy it all that much. I feel guilty for admitting that though, lol.
