Finally gave up waiting on those carboys. Sent an email to the seller saying I either want the carboys within the week (it's been since June 2nd) or cancel the sale.

From there I went to the Northern Brewer site and bought two new carboys. If the guy finally comes through I'll probably just offload 2 more then I was originally expecting to, if not ( Read more... )

I've been looking at different edible flowers for mead making purposes.
I was thinking hibiscus, but now I think I may do a violet mead since not only do I think it'll turn out pretty, but I actually like the taste of violets (unlike roses). I've had candied violets so I know what they really taste like, I'm just not sure exactly which ones have ( Read more... )

Finally bit the bullet and bought some brewing supplies of my own from Northern Brewer (which online at least is CONSIDERABLY cheaper then Arbor Wines). Just the 1st stage "cook it up and get it into the carboy" stuff, but still a mild investment. Does anyone have any good mead brewing sites I can poke through?
It seems pretty basic, but I dont know much about the base mechanics of it (much less enough to wing it, I'm not so much about winging it the first time I try somthing).
