GAH, this is great. I was expecting it to go in a much darker direction at the end, which is testament to the sense of dread you managed to build up here. Really gripping.

Thank you! I just had to have my happy LOTR ending. :-)

Wow - this was gripping, and dripping with tension and dread!

Your use of repetition and misdirection was perfect because I truly I didn't know which direction you were going to take this, just that it was going to be dark, and you certainly didn't disappoint.

You really did give us a LOTR ending and it worked perfectly (for a while I thought Sam might have a backup plan and that he was drinking that suicide demons blood so that he could overpower Dean, but this was so much more satisfying!) There's nothing like a bit of Winchester sacrifice to sweeten a fic!!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this - it was truly a pleasure! Take care, :)

This was a really interesting exploration of the Mark's effects on Dean post-cure and certainly very Lord of the Rings. :)

My favourite lines:
Sam watches him leave and desperately hopes paper targets don't count as a kill.

When he wakes, he can almost hear its echo. All you have to do is swing it. It takes him a few minutes to remember why he wouldn't want to.

This was wonderful, and I loved Cain's judgment on Dean.

I read that part about Dean saying 'No I am going to keep it' and thought LOTR. ... and then when i finished the story, I read your note about how you wanted it to BE like that.
*nods*

A more perfect version of the Winchester version of the LOTR could not be possible. Thanks for writing! I absolutely adored this!
