I'm guessing there are still AU hunters around because 1) Dean knows Sam is blaming himself and would not have been so cruel to say they might call if they were all dead 2) Jack is being very literal, so he would have brought up that there aren't any other hunters to call, except Mary and Bobby 3) AU hunters lets Sam and Dean farm out hunts when the writers want that to happen and finally 4) we will probably get to see Sam suffer even MORE when the rest of the AU hunters get killed and he feels even MORE responsible
( ... )
Oddly I was more worried about whether the Sheriff's kid was going to die and cause him trauma than I was worried about Winchesters or Jack. I guess that is a testament to the guest actor being very good?
I figured that there were still some hunters who were out on jobs when Michael cleared out the bunker.
I felt like I had seen this episode before....yeah. But 2 things. The teenagers are running the shop? And they ask Jack for ID before they can sell him the beer? But they can't sell beer because...they aren't old enough either. Even if they were college students (ARE they college students?) they don't look like end-of-college college students, but like just-beginning students. ???
Also.....I really wish the show wouldn't just throw out random places to pretend the episode takes place in when it's very very clear that's not where they are. That pretty green moss on those trees is, well, really pretty, but that's a PNW thing, not an Iowa thing. (& that restroom? I swear I've been in that restroom in one of the many parks I've been to while out here in the PNW - only the ones I've been in don't have running water....). :)

Yeah, I’ve posted before that Psych, which was also shot in Vancouver, always worked so hard to make it look like California, and SPN just throws up its hands and says “close enough!”
Yeah, this episode was pretty underwhelming. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. On the one hand it kinda felt like a season 1 episode at times; on the other hand, Wendigo did it better.
Some of the bits with Jack were funny and adorable. And I loved that we got to see Sam's state of mind.
Also, the Kleenex thing puzzled me too. The only thing I can think of is that Max imagines guys jerk off a lot and then use tissues to wipe off the mess. Which would make the bunker smell like something else, but whatever.

Which seems logical, and yet the bunker was always either full of them, or completely free of them.
