I can kind of hand wave Michael taking back Dean's body, because technically Michael left, Dean didn't kick him out. I can also go with the idea that MAYBE Lucifer could sneak his way back into Sam, but since that didn't work out so good the first time, he probably doesn't want Sam to think that there is a loophole to get rid of Lucifer, maybe for good this time. If Sam decides he didn't give real consent, then maybe he can take control again and lock both of them back into The Cage, which, let's face it, Sam would do in a heartbeat. I like to think Sam scares Lucifer. If he gets Sam to say "yes" then he gets a demoralized Sam. If he sneaks back in on a technicality, well would YOU want to deal with a pissed off Sam, who has you trapped in his body?
I'd just like to point out that Michael only takes super hot vessels. I would 100% get busy with any of them.* (Young J-Dub, Dean, smokeshow from Apocalypse World, vessel from this episode - did I miss any?)
And it's kind of easy for me to handwave the Dean vessel situation on account of Michael's an archangel, he's from Apocalypse World, Dean didn't technically eject him, or any other reason, really. We all knew he was going to be this season's Big Bad, and the best way for him to be the Biggest Baddest is by using Dean as a vessel.
This is probably the scariest mid-season finale in recent memory, mainly because of all the unknowns.
Garth better still be alive in the trunk of that car, damn it.
Why would Michael call Cas the 'strongest player?'
Cas as an angel is "stronger" in comparison to Sam and Dean. But we haven't seen much of his angel powers this season. Still, Michael thinks of angels as being stronger, so...
God, I'm back to watching this season, mostly because of Jack. I adore him. The rest...meh. I'm enjoying TFW's interactions with him because it strikes new notes. And he's such a little piece of nougat!
I didn't enjoy this episode that much because I knew what was going to happen every step of the way. And Garth looks ridiculous as a werewolf. Also, "hunters are all over the city" to take out the super monsters is cheap. Also, how come Michael has an endless fountain of archangel grace?

*With the notable exception of Adam.

Because it regenerates! Super fast! Except when it doesn’t!
