Yes, this, alla this, what you said. The meta is also killing me because we *know* Cas is coming back, so it feels silly and wasteful to spend grief on his absence, and it feels false and duplicitous for Dean to do it and invite us to share his grief. I think that's the biggest thing that's keeping me from engaging emotionally with the episode. And, I'm hearing people loving the "callback" to Home, and Dean's call to Dad--but it feels more like "retread" to me, give Jensen the heavy emotion, and of course, load Sam with babysitting duties and sideline his emotional reactions. Sigh. I'd like it a lot more if it didn't roll so easily into those deeply-graven ruts.

The scenery, however, was breathtaking. I've driven that coast road, and now want to do it again, sometime soon--so beautiful. And wasn't that the Dead in the Water lake? Gorgeous, anyway.

Yay show! yay your reviews! One of the best parts of show being back. :) (yes I'm still here, I'm so sorry~)

a very cute guy with long dark hair (in case you're new here, I have a type)

...on the one hand, I tend to go, 'Oh, a CW guy' but on the other hand...CW knows how to pick guys? ^^;;;

It's interesting to me that they recognize him from the vessel, since his grace is gone. I would have thought the vessel meant nothing to them, and that they wouldn't even bother to remember what it looked like once it was empty of an angel.

Oooh, this is a fascinating thought. I can headcanon it that Cas is a weird case who actually had his own soul in this vessel (when he was human) so maybe there's an extra angelic residue.

Or possibly, given how Cas's power yo-yo's and he's sometimes been Heaven's Most Wanted, all the posters have his vessel's face so he can be recognized even when his grace is on the fritz.

Because it turns out Jack likes candy, just like his uncle Gabriel.

Hah! (maybe Jack will just turn out to be a Trickster...)

There was enough pretty angst to make up for any flaws, IMHO. And I love your idea about Cas's wanted posters all over Heaven.

It's a federal law in the US that lighters have to have a "deadman switch" ignition, meaning they won't stay lit on their own. But maybe Canada is different!

Ha! Good catch re. the lighter!

Ah, but Dean is a mechanical genius and may jerry-rig his lighters to stay lit.

Fabulous recap, as usual. So, what do you suppose Lucifer needs Mary for? My first thought was, to breed another nephilim. She might be on the wrong side of 40 for that, though. I know she's supposed to be about the same age as when she died, but still. Maybe to use as bait to get to the boys?

I may have said this before, but it bears repeating: I love your Sam-appreciation. I'm right there with you.

What an excellent poll question...

I'm pretty sure they're not doing this but I would love it if Lucifer wanted Mary because he's getting tired of his current vessel, and she's probably the right bloodline (since John's line was Michael's) -- Marifer would be awesome!

I'd like that too, and I thought that's where they were heading last season, when they went to great pains to point out that an angel can have either a male or female vessel.

Thank you for this really enjoyable reviews. You always pull out stuff I glossed over, or neglected to pay attention to, and help focus my own reactions. I really appreciate your recaps because of this. Plus it's always fun to hear your POV.
