DREAM DEAN tries to get up and DEAN kicks him down on the desk again. DEAN holds the weapon as a bat and hits DREAM DEAN once and then pins him to the wall with it.

DEAN
All that crap he dumped on me, about protecting Sam! That was his crap. He's the one who couldn't protect his family. He-

DEAN steps back and swings the weapon again, hitting DREAM DEAN twice.

DEAN
He's the one who let Mom die.

DEAN pins DREAM DEAN again.

DEAN
- who wasn't there for Sam. I always was! He wasn't fair! I didn't deserve what he put on me.

He backs away from DREAM DEAN.

DEAN
And I don't deserve to go to Hell!

I have a lot of thoughts about John Winchester's parenting - which I'm not going to go into in great detail now, but let me just say that basically I agree with most things you've said

"Watch out for Sammy" doesn't just mean "Watch out that nothing bad happens to Sam", it also means "Watch out that Sam doesn't do anything bad". Right from his infancy, Sam was a walking timebomb in John's eyes. In 8x21, I think, Sam blames it on the demon blood that he always felt like there was something evil inside him. Well, for me it makes more sense to see it as a direct consequence of John's parenting. It also explains why Dean's always a little wary of Sam, even back in S1.
