spoiler alert: this episode is going to be hard on Jared's knees At one point I noticed that his jeans were muddy and matted at the knees and felt all fluttery. Thank you, costume department!
Meanwhile, Corbin is patching Michelle up, and I'm concerned about her injuries. Some of them look like they could be caused by werewolf bites. This episode successfully misdirected me multiple times, and that's really rare for any movie/TV show.
(I love that he washes the pills down with Pedialyte) I love this detail SO MUCH. Give me alllll the irony. Give me it. :D
As he stumbles and falls down the stairs, Dean collapses to the floor. This bit of visual parallelism was lovely.
And in a bathroom in the clinic, Corbin removes his bandages and notices his werewolf bites are healing. Is that a thing? Didn't Madison still have the bite mark on her neck long after she was bitten? Maybe it's a pureblood thing? I need to rewatch "Bitten"--that one's basically a full documentation of the transformation process.
I'm not 100% sure she didn't intend to let Dean go, with her gloating. She gave Sam the hint on how to cure himself and the other victims of the disease when she met Sam. She gives her evil overlord speech and then give Dean enough time to say no. I do think she doesn't intend to cut any deals with them when they are 100% dead, but until then, I'm not sure exactly where she stands.
I frickin' loved this episode so hard, and I don't think it's just your feed, because only about 1% of the posts I saw about the episode were negative (a very small percent of the population felt that Dean was somehow portrayed in a way that was insulting to his capabilities), although it was weird to read hard-core Destiel fans insisting that the whole "watching the man I love die" referred to Cas and I'm still like ??? over that

Oh, what the fucking fuck.
Also handwaved: Dean cleaning Sam's blood off the driver's seat and steering wheel while Sam gets treated,
I've become a huge fan of your witty, insightful recaps, esp since you use screen caps and gifs. How long have you been doing these? R/L interfered with my watching the last few years and I wound up missing almost all of the Demon!Dean epis, plus a bunch of this season and the last one. I'm trying to find a way to catch up without having to buy the DVDs or join a download site.
Sam apparently only needed some stitches and two quarts of O negative. This is my only real beef with this episode. Sam would have been hospitalized overnight. He would have been on IV antibiotics.Ever since we found out about the demon blood, I've put Sam's durability and quick-healing to that. When they revealed both boys had been "bred" to be vessels for archangels, that was the kicker. No handwaving needed. We've seen what happens to vessels that aren't meant for archangels; they disintegrate mentally and physically. Even Cas said he couldn't take just any vessel. It seems logical that angel vessels, esp archangels, would be substantially stronger and

Aw, thank you! I started writing reviews during S9, I think, but they didn't become recaps until S10, and at some point during S10 I started adding the screencaps.

Damn, that's the truth. If she hadn't been gloating so hard, she would have tossed his butt into the Empty before he even stopped convulsing.
