Pairings: JeTi, YoonYul, others
Rating: PG-13

Summary: In the region known as Hangulia, there are monsters known as Noise. If not in check, Noises can wreak havoc, leading to the end of the mighty region. Therefore, this is why we have Resonation. Techniques only selected individuals are permitted to use. Two people are required for Resonation to occur. There are two types of Resonation techniques: Feral Resonation and Armed Resonation. With these two, we are able to keep Noise to their weakest point... that is unless their madness doesn't infect us first.
Disclaimer: May have slight similarities to Soul Eater

“Alright, all new graduates listen up! K-P Organization’s leader, Kim Taeyeon, would like to speak!” Daesung announced from the podium on stage to the rowdy group of individuals seated within the Grand Hall of K-P Organization.

As the murmurs began to die down, the boy ran off to the sidelines, and the room dimmed, a spotlight shining upon the podium. A second spotlight turned on, beaming to the far right of the stage, revealing a young girl. She was probably around 20 years old; most people mistook her for a child, considering her slightly peculiar height. Kim Taeyeon almost looked like a dictator: an outfit appearing what a sergeant of the military would wear, hair tied up into a ponytail, and a stern face never budging as she slowly approached the podium.

“Oi, that’s Kim Taeyeon.”

“She looks kinda cute…”

“What a creepy aura. As expected of K-P Organization’s leader, and our soon-to-be boss.”

The whispers soon vanished as Taeyeon managed to get herself behind the podium, eyeing the mass of people before her. Clearing her throat, she spoke up in a quiet, but determined voice.

“Ladies and Gentlemen. First off, I would like to congratulate you all for graduating from the Organization’s Academy. You have all come a long way, and now time will reward you. Commanders are in demand now that Noises’ activities have risen over the past couple of months. I know all of you are braved, determined souls. You’re risking your life to keep in check those monsters that threaten our very existence. But you all must know now, that maybe a couple years from now, maybe even months, some of the people standing before me now… I will not see in the future. Resonation is truly a power not anyone can obtain. And so, because of this power… I want every single person here to enjoy life to its fullest, because we may not meet again in the future. Thank you for everyone’s time.”

Kim Taeyeon bowed slightly and began retreating backstage as the crowd suddenly erupted in cheers and claps. Daesung quickly ran up to the microphone, rashly declaring, “Ok! All Commanders to the Recruiting room to pick your partners!”

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

The Recruiting room was by far larger than the Grand Hall. Then again, it had to be, as it was a magical place where commanders get to pick their life-time partners, who they would fight side-by-side with to take down the Noise.

Pushing through thousands of people was a shorthaired girl with a cheeky smile. Scanning from left to right, her grin grew wider when she managed to spot her friend. “Hey Jessica!!!~ Over here!!!” she shouted with one arm flailing in the air.

A blonde girl with hard, cold eyes tilted her head to the spazzing girl, and heavily sighed, as she walked towards her friend. “Sooyoung, you ought to learn to behave yourself in public. Your monkey-like behavior is embarrassing,” Jessica harshly scolded.

“Forget the behavior crap! We’re Commanders now! We have to find our partners, so then we can go kick some ass-Oh that reminds me. Have you found a partner, yet?”

“…No.”

“Why not?! You’ve wanted to learn Feral Resonation, right? There’s a bunch of ferals around here!”

“No one here particularly interests me…”

“Well you better pick one, or else you’re going to end up with a weak partner for the rest of your life~”

“How about you, huh? Why don’t you go find a partner yourself?”

“Alright, snappy.” Sooyoung nonchalantly placed the palm of her hands on her head, and turned around. After three steps, she stopped, looked back, and shouted. “By the way Sica! Once we get our partners, we should go eat out and celebrate!~” With that, she dashed off into the mass of people.

Seeing if her friend was finally gone, Jessica flared her nostrils, simply muttering “Glutton” before marching the other direction.

Looking left and right, she saw her former classmates shaking hands with unfamiliar people, who were probably the weapons. The weapons looked just as human as they were, and as far as she knew, none of them sparked her interested.

Something bumped into Jessica, and propelled her backwards as she shouted in surprise. After several clumsy backward steps, she managed to retain her balance. She was about to lash the god-forbidden person who had ran into her with her venomous words, and ice cold stares, when her eyes fell upon a girl on the ground.

The girl was probably the same age as her. Onyx black hair draped down to her shoulders. One eye was closed while the other was half-lidded, revealing chocolate brown eyes, its edges brimming with tears. When the girl stood up from the ground, her delicate hands rubbing her head in pain, she revealed her amazing body. And the whole time Jessica was observing this stranger, she hadn’t realized she was blushing.

“Owwie…Wait…OHMYGOSH are you ok?!” the girl exclaimed, her eyes reflecting her worry.

“Y-Yeah, I’m fine.”

“Are you sure? You look really red in the cheeks. Do you need to see a doctor?”

“N-No, I said I was fine.”

An awkward atmosphere began to fill as the blonde tried to avert her eyes from the worried ones.

“Well I better get go-“ Jessica stopped from escaping the unbearable situation, when the girl suddenly grabbed at her hand.

After realizing what she had done, the stranger quickly let go, hiding her hand behind her back. “I’m sorry, you must be on your way to your partner…”

Jessica sheepishly rubbed the back of her head, and sighed. “Actually, I don’t have a partner…”

“Really? Neither do I!” The girl’s eyes suddenly beamed with brightness. Just seeing those eyes made Jessica feel that her cold stares were inferior to the latter. “Are you a weapon or a commander?”

“…Commander, but I’m looking for a Feral Resonating partner.”

“Well commander, you’re in luck!” The girl pointed to herself, a toothy grin upon her face, “Feral Resonating partner right here~”

Jessica felt a sweat bead down her neck, and gulped. “I-I-I don’t know…”

“You don’t have to pick me, but as far as I know, I’m the only feral you’ve actually made contact with. It’s better to choose a partner you already know, right?”

She felt an eyebrow arch, her eyes gazing curiously at the stranger. When she noticed that her leers were surprisingly ineffective after staring for approximately 5 minutes, she sighed and softly smiled. “We should probably go pick up our bracelets then.” Jessica extended her arm, opening her palm willingly.

The other girl’s smile never dropped, as her eyes slowly shaped into crescents. A soft giggle emitted from the girl, before she took the welcoming hand.

“Jessica Jung.”

“Tiffany Hwang. Let’s become great friends, as well as partners!”

[Present Time]

A body landed heavily on a thick tree branch, a crackling noise filling the air. Before the branch could break under pressure, the body leaped forward onto another tree. This repeated several times as three more figures followed suit.

One of them was panting hard, their abnormally dark skin glistening from a coat of sweat. Soon realizing that the lead was far ahead with no hopes of catching up, the worn out girl gripped the bark of a tree, stopping herself from moving to catch her breath.

“HEY SICA, CAN’T YOU SLOW DOWN A LITTLE?!” The girl gasped as she watched the blonde’s figure become smaller.

Said girl crouched on the last branch she had jumped on, and turned around, staring at the panting girl disapprovingly. “Stop your complaining, newbie.”

“New-I’VE BEEN A COMMANDER FOR A YEAR, HOW DOES THAT MAKE ME A NEWBIE.”

Acting as if she heard nothing, Jessica advanced forward to the trees ahead. A growl sounded from the dark girl, as she got up, and lazily leaped to the next branch. “And more importantly! Why are we even in these freaking trees when there’s a dirt path RIGHT below us?!”

“I’m sure Jessi has a perfectly good reason why we’re in the trees. Just trust her, Yuri.” Another girl gently answered, inserting one of her famous eye-smiles, before moving ahead in hopes of catching up to her partner.

“Oh Tiffany… if only Sica had a kind soul like you.” Yuri murmured.

The eldest of the group stopped, and raised her hand, signaling for the others to stop as well. They all stalled on the branches, glaring at Jessica curiously. “We’re here.” Jessica simply uttered, as the group took in the view before them.

Hundreds of cottages, a village more like it, were smoking. However, flames were still high and roaring. Half the housings were destroyed, their structures either broken with giant holes, or the buildings themselves were completely demolished. Jessica’s eyes narrowed as something caught her eye. It certainly wasn’t human, its odd bluish-white skin color standing out from the orange-red hues emitting from the cottages. It walked in a gorilla-like fashion, its massive hands pounding into the ground with every step. Blood dripped from the fangs of the monster; apparently it had recently eaten.

Jessica faced the group. “This is the village our mission described. Judging from the ruins, it seems like most citizens have either escaped or died. The objective is to rid the village of all Noise. Keep in mind that there might be more than one Noise; it’s why I chose to travel by tree, in case the Noise spotted us first. Now, on my mark, we-“

“LET’S GO, YOONA!”

Yuri declared as she jumped and plummeted onto the hard ground, the girl Yoona who looked slightly similar to her partner except brighter toned, a bit slimmer, and hair length/color different, followed after with a simple “Ok~”.

“Wait, you idiot!” Jessica hissed at the duo, specifically directing it to Yuri.

“Yoona, Chain Sickle now!”

A shimmering light surrounded the latter as the shape within morphed and twisted until the light disappeared, revealing a scythe-looking weapon, a chain stretching from the handle with a weight at the very end.

The ape-like monster turned its head, finding Yuri charging, holding the blade in the air while swinging the chain in her other hand.

“Take this!”

The girl quickly released the rotating weight, which flew straight at the direction of the Noise.

Unnie wait! We aren’t close enough! Yoona stated, knowing very well she was far too late.

A growl emitted from the monster, gripping the flying weight easily in its giant hand. Yuri gritted her teeth, careful not to pull too hard, fearing the thought of her partner being split in two.

“God damnit…” Jessica groaned as she buried her face in her hands, “She should have fucking waited…”

A soft hand lightly gripped her shoulder. Jessica turned and looked at the hand, then the owner’s face, the comforting smile easing her frustrations.

“Should we get going as well? At this rate, Yuri might wind up dead.”

“…Yeah.”

Both girls leaped from the tree, dust rising from the impact. They raised their arm that adorned a golden bracelet with complex patterns and writings, a bulb directly in the middle.

“Heart Resonance!”

At that moment, the bulbs lit up a fluorescent blue, which then the light extended from Tiffany’s bracelet and completely engulfed her. From within, she was down on all fours, legs and arms contorting to its natural form. Hair began growing all over her body, and her canine teeth became larger. Within a few seconds, the light quickly diminished, revealing a full-grown wolf in Tiffany’s place.

The ground rumbled, buildings nearby collapsing. Jessica examined each building that fell, her eyes widening when it finally clicked in her brain.

“Tiffany, move out of the way!”

Bricks and wood spewed into the air as a ram-looking Noise broke through a nearby cottage, a menacing screech echoing in the air. If Tiffany had not heard Jessica’s command, the monster would have probably taken her; luckily she had rolled out of danger in a split second reaction. The Noise had managed to stop itself from traveling through 10 more buildings, as the monster whirled around, steam puffing out of its nostrils, its eyes completely red with anger.

Jessica was the examiner out of the group (considering she didn’t do much in the first place); she was famously known for coming up with devastating blows, because of her well-occurred observations. She bit her tongue as her eyes wildly scanned the battlefield. Tiffany and the ram-like Noise were circling around each other; she knew Tiffany would not strike without her command. Yuri had shifted Yoona into a *Tessen, her defense slowly becoming more sloppy as two more Noises mysteriously came out of nowhere and joined the battle, making it a Three vs. One battle. Then it occurred to her.

“Yuri! We need a tornado now!” Jessica yelled, hoping Yuri could hear her in the midst of battle.

“Got it!”

Yuri jumped a foot in the air, dodging a pair of sharp claws that dug into the ground where she had previously been. With a back flip, she managed to gain some distance from the Noises. She moved her arm that held the Tessen until it was parallel to her body, the fan barely touching her left shoulder.

“Iron Tornado!”

With a snap of the arm, and a flick of the Tessen, which glowed a silver color, winds rapidly emitted from the fan. The winds quickly became stronger, and moved in a circular rotation, until it truly formed a tornado. Though it succeeded in hitting the enemy, it did little effect other than plummeting them into cottages. As it tore through the path of Noise, it settled itself in the middle of the wreck.

Jessica closed her eyes, inhaled deeply, and then exhaled. This repeated as the air around her began changing, her hair slightly floated, and the pebbles on the ground jittered. A light blue magic circle, with encrypted patterns lining every inch of the illusion formed beneath her feet, then under Tiffany’s body; she was transferring her Mind Energy.

“Tiffany, Blizzard Howl!”

As Jessica shouted the command, the Noise charged at the wolf. Tiffany offered a warning snarl, as she jumped to the side, letting the idiotic monster collide into the wall. The whites and pupil of the wolf’s eyes turned the same color as the magic circle. She pointed her muzzle to the sky, as if she was going to howl at the moon. Slowly, a ball of energy of similar color formed within her mouth as it opened. Ice crystals and mist could be seen forming directly in front of the mass of energy.

Seconds felt like hours, as the ball rapidly began growing in size, until then Tiffany howled deafeningly, snapping her head in the direction of the tornado. The ball of light blue energy quickly stretched into a beam, the rays invading the inside of the swirling wind.

The tornado had light blue razors lining the edges. Because of the excessive amount of Mind Energy within a small tornado, the wind quickly ejected the energy as it swirled.

“Everybody duck!” Jessica warned as she dived to the ground, arms over her head. Quickly, Yuri followed the command, while Tiffany ran to her partner, placing her body on top of hers for protection.

It was like a pulse; the energy swirled as it separated itself from the tornado. The Noises screeched as they recoiled, the pulse cutting through them. There were no visible wounds, but suddenly each Noise exploded into dust particles, their remains sprinkling onto the ground.

As silence overcame the battlefield, the commanders got up from the ground, inspecting the area for leftover Noises. Tiffany reverted back to human form, and the Tessen leaped out of Yuri’s grip, turning back into Yoona.

“Aigoo, that was pretty difficult…” Yoona stated as she stretched her arms above her head.

“Jeez Sica, you just destroyed the village even more.” Yuri lightly kicked a door that was cleanly cut in half, as was everything else in the village.

Jessica and Tiffany were already at the forest entrance from which they came from. “Oi you two, hurry up! We’re heading back to town.”
