That thud-ud-ump was possibly the most terrifying noise he'd ever heard, because he'd seen that flicker of eyes in the road, couldn't stop in time, and now D was really going to kill him, no two ways about it. This was something a few carefully selected pastries couldn't fix, and dammit D had actually been less annoying than usual, and they were actually getting along.
