How did you discover fanfiction?

Last night I was having trouble sleeping and started to wonder how all of you discovered fanfiction. And that made me think of how I did

Hmm....how did I discover fanfiction?

Through HARRY POTTER.

So, yeah, I was on Mugglenet with my friend and we were just bored and browsing around when we came across a link for "fanfiction." I was kinda like, "Why the heck not?" so we clicked on it, and I think we clicked on one of the featured stories (because Mugglenet has their own fic archive) and we read until my friend had to go. Thus began my addiction. And then when I went to other fandoms, I discovered fanfiction.net, and then later on, LJ (and also discovered that quality is a lot better in general on LJ). :)

Yes, LJ definitively have the best fanfiction. I was a little doubtful in the beginning. I find the lack of properly labeling and heading of fic annoying, but there are so many good fic writers here. (Especially Narnia!)

Ooooh. Gilmore Girls. I was really into that show for the first, oh, four seaosons or so but shortly after Rori went to college I lost interest.

I came to fanfiction through Firefly, which led to Buffy which led to Supernatural and Harry Potter and now I'm all over the place.

I didn't start watching Gilmore Girls regularly before season 5 (which is probably why that's my favorite season.) Almost all the people I meet say they hate the seasons I like the best. (Like Charmed, my favorite season is season 6 and people are all like I stopped watching after Prue died. And I'm all, but I didn't start watching before after Prue died!!) /rant

Firefly! That's probably a show I should watch, right? I've seen people all over saying how good it was...

harry potter is where it all began for me as well! i'd started reading hp before the first film came out, and had no idea of the fandom that existed online. when the first film finally did come out i went searching online for more information on the actors (rupert!) and other random stuff. aaand somehow i ended up on fiction alley i think? i had no idea what fanfiction was until then. d/g was the first ship i ever read, and it's my otp forever and ever, amen. :D i do read anything though, as long as it's well written

Haha! That's how I discovered fandom. The hunt for more information! Also how I fell into the Narnia fandom. I bought LWW on extended edition dvd, and was hooked, and was like need more now!! I HOPE THERE IS FANFICTION! And there was. Good fanfiction too!
