Chakotay watched as her eyes fluttered open; "Morning, Captain," he said, voice warm.
She smiled, said, "We're back on Earth - you don't have to call me Captain any more."
He nestled toward her, his arm bringing her closer as she snuggled into him; "I'd still follow you anywhere," he said, and she chuckled before leaning in for a kiss.
This made me smile. J/C was my first ship and it has always been utter fluff in my head and this just fits perfectly into my headcanon. :D Thanks for filling the prompt.
When Chakotay reads the report, he is stiff, professional--too much so. They've been tense since their return to Voyager, trying too hard to pretend that they hadn't started a life together, that they hadn't shared their disappointment at rescue with a single glance. Janeway gives a nod when the report is finished and dismisses her second-in-command; as she watches him go, she remembers where they started when they first ended up in the Delta Quadrant, Starfleet versus Maquis, enemies, and she gives herself a bittersweet smile, knowing they'll make it through this too.

I shipped them so much too - one of my few canon het ships that I felt strongly about.
