Susan looks at Bran, standing so fierce and bright and alone, caught out of time, and it makes her think of her sister, of her lovely lost brothers, of the children she never had and the world she left behind. Merriman's mane puts her in mind of Aslan, and the last line of Will's poem cuts her heart in two.

Five will return, and one go alone.
