Told you! When Howard was going down I said the leader after the leader after next.

He is remarkably charismatic.

Still a Tory, though.

I might have to write Vaizey-Cameron slash.

Vaizey-Portillo slash would be more entertaining.

Ha! That's what I nearly wrote the first time, but I have been castigated for my Portillo fixation before (see Crush of Shame threads).

I'm not sure whether to be scared or impressed. Is any of this insanity publicly available? I need a brainbleach fix at some point this week...

Also, I want to know to which position he's been promoted. That link is noticably lacking when it comes to useful information about Vaizey ie height (short), weight (tubby), hair colour (curly, light brown, thinning), eye colour (blue), smile (cheeky), etc.

The one I quoted in my original post. Ed Vaizey: Arts
It's the same position that Boris Johnson had before he had to resign over the Spectator article debacle - Shadow Minister for the Arts. Tessa Jowell is the secretary of state for culture, media, and sport. Under her, she has a team of ministers - one of whom is minister for the arts. That's who Ed is shadowing. Currently, it's David Lammy, though he's usually referred to as the culture minister. Before him, it was Estelle Morris (when she was brought back after saying she was crap).

Vaizey's often popping up on t'telly - TV Vaizey as he should be known, commenting on such heavyweight programmes as Big Brother. They're probably trying to push him into a sort of Charlie Kennedy figure for the masses. Certainly very media friendly - used to write speeches for, I think, Howard. But there's brains behind the Bonhomie - his media friendly personality almost works against him, colouring him as a lightweight.
