So, I have tomorrow booked off work, a flight to Dublin booked, and a hotel. I'm not worried about the money aspect, and I probably don't stand much chance of getting any of it back if things do go up the spout, what with it being to fight turrrrrism and anyone who opposes that supports turrrrism ( Read more... )

Which airport? I would say go for it, things will probably be a little calmer by then - or phone the airport/airline in the morning and see what the status is then.

I'd say phoning the airline to check what's going on is your best bet, I haven't had a chance to check the latest news and see how the CHAOS is going now.

They seem to be leaving about 30 to 45 minutes late at LCY, down from what it was earlier today. Seemed to be some hour, hour and a half delays when I looked around 9 or 10.

I'm guessing that since they won't even let you take a book onto an aircraft now, you're going to have to organise a sing-along for entertainment during the flight.

I was planning to have War and Peace tattooed on to the back of my hand, and switch the lenses in my glasses for something a wee bit more powerful.

According to http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_about/documents/page/dft_about_612280.hcsp
you get checked at the security point. Which is before the duty-free shops, so you could buy a book in duty-free and read that.

Arrange to take the Eurostar instead.

Yes, I know. But I was chatting to some woman at the lunch van near work today, and mentioned that my sister was intending to travel to London from Belfast tomorrow. "Oh, maybe she can take the eurostar instead?". When somebody gives me a helpful suggestion and I see another person that it might apply to, I feel duty-bound to pass it on.
