So, I have all of my mail forwarded both to my home account and also to Gmail. Gmail, as we presumably all know, scans your mail and shows semi-relevant adverts based on the content. It doesn't always do this well, however

When I set my Facebook status to 'engaged' it started throwing up ads for crackpot diets and wedding loans. As soon as I changed it to 'married' it began to post ads for divorce and private detectives!

I wonder if setting it to "It's Complicated" gets you adverts for swinging parties.

What sort of ads does it have for "fed up with the dating game, I'm just going to stay at home with my 42 cats and my shotgun"?

Hmm... a shotgun, you say... I imagine a rocking chair and enough food and water to see you through a four week siege would turn up in the ads.
