A while back, hoiho said: Plus the fact that if I bought an SLR, I'm pretty sure I'd spend altogether too much money on glass!
And so I felt commanded to start spending money on glass.

The basic lens with my camera is 18-55. It's a nice lens and seems quick enough for my needs, but lacks a little by way of zoom capability for my personal stalking ( Read more... )

I really like the two of the chap in the turban. (And yes, I have also spent too much money on glass, thanks to eBay - I am currently watching an unbranded 2X teleconverter).

I was quite lucky with him. I have half a dozen of him all with pretty good facial expressions, and only one where he looks like he's about to say something that rhymes with "duck".

I recently bought the Sigma 18-200m lens. I am still gobsmacked by its awesomeness. However, it is forcing me to learn how use aperture properly. This is probably not a bad thing...

A few people have mentioned a few different 18-200 lenses and been thoroughly satisfied with them. I looked vaguely at other xx-200 lenses, but all of them were pricier than I was looking to fork out. The cheapest Sigma 18-200 lenses I've seen are around the 180-200 quid range, which is a bit ouch inducing at the moment, especially when it's all new to me.
