Our washing machines here don't have a hot/warm/cold option - I just set the temperature. I never was anything below 30 degrees celsius. I don't wear blue jeans so I don't have to wash them normally either hehe but I was my other dark colored stuff on 30 degrees C. While in the US when I do our laundry I do wash Tan's bluejeans on cold. She says they don't loose color as quick then. They are being tumbled dry.
it totally depends on how you want them to fit and if they are all cotton or not. if they are not 100% cotton, then they won't really shrink, or at least not much and you want to wash them on cold or warm. if they are all cotton, then cold if you want them to stay as they are, warm for a little snugger and hot for big shrinkage. (big meaning like a half inch to an inch) they will stretch back out tho a bit... also the warmer/hotter the water the more they will fade. so if you want them to stay very dark, wash on cold. :)
